ORDER OF COMPETITION AND PRIZES
Monday 20th/Tuesday 21st - One qualifying round of stroke play each day.
Prizes as follows: Top four scratch scores and top four handicap scores to be awarded prizes valued at £75, £60, £50, and £45.
Hole-in-One Prize: £150 for the FIRST player to achieve a hole-in-one during the tournament. (Consolation rounds are not included)
Wednesday 22nd July - First Round of match play
The 16 players with the lowest aggregate scratch scores from the previous days will play-off by match play for the Challenge Trophy. Prizes valued at £500 and £300 shall be awarded to the Winner and Runner-up respectively. Prizes valued at £150 each shall be awarded to the semi-finalists and
£100 each to the quarter finalists. Play will be from the Black tees.
The 64 players with the lowest aggregate handicap scores, excluding the scratch qualifiers, will contest two handicap sections each comprising of 32 players. Section one, for those with handicap indexes of 8.6 or less, will play-off by match play for the Smith Challenge Cup. The lowest 32 qualifiers with handicap of 8.7 or more comprise section two and play-off by Match Play for the Claverhouse Cup. Prizes valued at £340 and £240 shall be awarded to the Winners and Runners-up respectively. Prizes valued at £100 each shall be awarded to the semi-finalists and
£75 to the quarterfinalists in each division. Play for both handicap sections will be from the White tees.
The top four qualifiers in the Challenge Trophy (Scratch Championship) will be seeded in the match play draw.
The Smith Challenge Cup and Claverhouse Cup match play draws will be fully seeded based on the qualifying handicap standings, with the 1st qualifier playing the 32nd qualifier, 2nd playing 31st, 3rd playing 30th, and so on throughout the draw.
The names of each winner shall be engraved on the respective trophy. All trophies will remain the property of Nairn Golf Club and be retained accordingly within the trophy display case situated in the Whitelaw Lounge.
NON-QUALIFIERS
Only competitors who have not qualified for either of the match play sections may compete in the Consolation Stableford under full handicap on Wednesday 23rd July. Prizes to the value of £60, £50, and £40 shall be awarded to the players returning the three best scores. Play will be from the Blue Tees.
Thursday 24th July - Scratch Section – Quarter Finals (am); Handicap Sections – 2nd Round Matches (am) & Quarter Finals (pm)
Non-Qualifiers and those losing in the match play may compete in the Consolation 3-man team Event on Thursday 23rd July. Prizes to the value of £80, £60, and £40 shall be awarded to the pairs returning the three best scores. Play will be from the Blue Tees.
Friday 24th July – Scratch/Handicap Sections – Semi Finals & Finals
Non-Qualifiers and those losing in the match play may compete in the Consolation Foursomes Event on Friday 24th July. Prizes to the value of £90, £75, and £60 shall be awarded to the pairs returning the three best scores. Play will be from the Blue Tees.
CONDITIONS
- The competition will be open to amateur golfers, as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, who are in possession of an active handicap index not exceeding 17.2 at any recognised golf club. Any player who has entered with a handicap index of
17.2 or below and increases to 17.2 or above by the date of competition will play of a handicap index of 17.2 for the purposes of the competition.
- The competition will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and in accordance with the Local Rules of Nairn Golf Club.
- The tournament will be under the control of the Tournament Committee of Nairn Golf Club.
- Entry Fee: £135 Members, £325 Visitors. Enter with Entry Fee online via Golf Genuis, or to golf ops team at, Nairn Golf Club, golfops@nairngolfclub.co.uk 01667 458931 Entry Fee non-refundable after 31st May 2026, unless at discretion of Tournament Committee.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without assigning any reason thereof and to alter or add to these conditions. Its decision shall be final.
Non-members will be granted temporary membership from Monday 20th – Friday 24th July 2026.
- The minimum age is 18 years on the opening day of the competition.
- A player’s handicap will remain the same for the entire duration of the tournament.
- In the handicap match play sections, full handicap difference will be allowed.
- Ties in the qualifying rounds for prizes or for places in the match play sections will be decided on the best scores returned on the last 18 holes unless otherwise directed by the tournament committee.
- Halved matches in all match play sections shall be decided by continuing play from the 1st tee until one person wins a hole.
- In the handicap match play sections, strokes will be given and received as in the stipulated round.
