42nd Annual Maumelle Country Club Four-Ball

 

Play will be governed by the most current Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association, and where applicable, by the following Local Rules, Conditions and Definitions.  Appendix I refers to the Appendix of Local Rules; conditions of the competition in the USGA Rules of Golf.  Unless otherwise provided, penalty for breach of a Local Rule is: Match Play - Loss of Hole.

 

FORMAT:  Four-Ball Match Play - A match in which two play their better ball against the better ball or two other players.  Flights and seeds are determined by using a percentage of the team's combined handicap.  No handicaps will be used in the competition.

 

TEE MARKERS:  Championship Flight will play the Black Tees.  First Flight thru Fourth Flight will play the Blue Tees.  Fifth Flight thru Ninth Flight will play the White Tees.

 

GOLF BALLS:  Participants are to play the same type of ball through the complete hole.  No putting balls will be allowed.

 

14 CLUB LIMIT IS IN EFFECT.

 

TIME OF STARTING: Each side shall start at the time laid down by the Committee.  If a side arrives at its starting point, ready to play within five minutes after the official starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is loss of hole.  Any later then 5 minutes the team is considered to “forfeit” their match.  A side may be represented by one partner for all partners need not be present.  An absent partner may join a match between holes, but not during the play of a hole.

 

PACE OF PLAY: (Rule 6-7 Undue Delay) A player shall be subject to penalty if he or she unduly delays play.  All players will be expected to play at a reasonably fast pace.  Please play ready golf and keep up with the group in front of you.  Penalty for breach of Rule 6-7: Loss of Hole.

 

OUT OF BOUNDS:  Defined by white lines and inside points of white stakes at ground level.  The road/cart path to the right of and behind #9 is out of bounds.  The golf course maintenance facility between holes #6 & #7 is out of bounds.  The net to the right of #10 (behind the range) is out of bounds.

 

PENALTY AREAS:  Defined by red lines and stakes.  The lines are in the hazard.

Optional Ball Drop areas are located on holes #8, #13 & #17.

 

ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS:  Includes all areas enclosed in white lines or bare areas adjacent to the cart path.  Fire ant hills and french drains are deemed to be ground under repair. Free relief from any newly planted sod.  The drainage ditch over the mounds on #2 and to the left of the cart path on #4 is deemed ground under repair.  All course renovation works such as newly sodded areas, drainage ditches and damage caused by equipment (tire tracks & ruts), is ground under repair (GUR), even if not so marked with white lines. Abnormal Ground Conditions - Relief. The player must lift their ball and drop it without penalty within one club length, of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.”

 

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS:  The gravel road bisecting the back nine of the golf course is deemed to be an immovable obstruction.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER:  A suspension due to inclement weather shall be signaled by one prolonged horn blast.  When play is suspended, the players shall discontinue play immediately and shall not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play.  Players will be notified to resume play by two short horn blasts.  In the case of inclement weather not allowing the completion of a match the winner will be determined by which team has the lead when play is suspended.  If the match is tied when play is suspended the winner will be the team that last held the lead.
