Event Date: June 1-3, 2026

Location: Athens Country Club - Ross Course

Eligibility: Female amateur golfers with a maximum handicap index of 10.0.  Entrants in all GSGA competitions and member programming must have an active handicap index issued by the World Handicap System maintained at a GSGA member club. In addition, entrants in the Women’s Amateur Championship must also be legal residents of the State of Georgia. Players are responsible for reviewing and confirming compliance with GSGA residency criteria. 

Resident – An individual is a legal resident of Georgia when they meet at least one of the following requirements:

• Maintains his/her primary residence in Georgia.
• Is registered to vote in Georgia in local, state, and national elections.
• Files a State of Georgia Income Tax return as a Georgia resident.
• Possesses a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Juniors/Boarding School/College Students – A junior, boarding school or college student is a resident of the state where their parent(s)’/guardian(s)’ legally reside, unless the student has no dependency on his/her parent(s)’/guardian(s)’.

The GSGA Championship Committee and Rules & Competitions Department will not verify residency unless something stands out to us or is brought to our attention. Typically, questions will arise with college players who are going to school in the state but are from elsewhere. If a player is a dependent of their parents, they are residents of that state regardless of whether they have a job or driver’s license in Georgia.

Exemption: The Georgia Women's Amateur Championship is an official USGA Exemption Event.  The winner shall receive an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.  The winner will also receive an exemption into the 2027 Sea Island Women's Amateur, a Women's Elite Amateur Series event.
