EVENT: 97th Georgia Women's Amateur Championship

 

SITE: Athens Country Club

 

DATE: June 1-3, 2026

 

FIELD SIZE: Maximum field size = 120 players in one Championship division.  The final field will be determined by handicap index at the close of entries, in addition to a number of exemptions.  Exemptions listed under player information section.

 

FORMAT: 54 holes of individual stroke play.  There will be a cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. This is a walking-only Championship.  Players and caddies must walk at all times, unless otherwise authorized by the Committee.

 

PRACTICE ROUND:

 

  • One practice round per player.

 

  • Practice round, cart, and range fee is $50 plus tax. 

 

  • For practice rounds prior to May 31, availability based on club schedule.  Call club to schedule after May 20th.

 

  • For practice rounds on Sunday May 31st, registration will be through Golf Genius beginning on May 14.  Practice round starting times on Sunday, May 31 will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Instructions  and an invitation to register will be sent separately after the player acceptance is sent on Thursday morning, May 14.

 

CADDIES/SPECTATOR CARTS: Players may provide their own caddie. Push/pull carts are allowed. This is a walking-only Championship. Players and caddies must walk at all times unless otherwise authorized by the Committee. Spectator carts will not be available due to player evacuation and staff/volunteer cart needs from GSGA and the host club.  There are various locations where spectators may view multiple holes at one time.

 

YARDAGES & TEES: A combination of tee markers and yardages will be used. A practice yardage sheet is available under the Player Information tab on the event portal.

 

  • Yardage books will be provided to players as part of the player tee gift at registration on Sunday, May 31.

 

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE: Open by 7:00 a.m. each day of competition.  Club PT will be on-site throughout the championship providing stretching and physio services to players near the practice facilities.

 

STARTING TIMES: Assigned by GSGA and posted on the event portal starting May 26th.

 

REGISTRATION: Formal registration will be held on site on Sunday, May 31 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 1 from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Withdraws must be called or emailed to the Official In Charge listed above.

 

FOOD SERVICE/WELCOME PARTY: Lunches will be provided for players and caddies on the Sunday, May 31 practie round day and for rounds one and two of the championship.  Monday, June 1 lunch is sponsored by Stiles Air and we thank them for their support of the championship.  Lunch buffets will also be available for purchase by guests/spectators for a price of $TBA plus tax. Cash only is accepted for food. 

 

  • Championship Player Welcome Party will be held on Sunday evening, May 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Country club casual/golf attire, no jeans or t-shirts please.  A brief program will begin around 7:15 p.m.

PRIZES: Trophies are presented to the overall winner. Gift cards will be presented to the top TBD places based on field size.  Additional exemptions listed on event portal home page.

 

The following trophies will be awarded: 

 

  • Champion - Eleanor M. Keeler Memorial Trophy

 

  • Low 18-Hole Score of the Championship - Ceil Maclaurin Trophy

 

  • Low 54-Hole Score by a player over 50 years of age - Burns Cup

 

REFUND POLICY:

 

  • A $30 service charge will be retained by the GSGA on all refunds granted prior to the close of entries.

 

  • Entry fees will not be refunded after entries close unless there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.

 

  • Withdraws after the close of entries must be made by calling or emailing the Official In Charge listed above.
