QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

Format is 18-holes, stroke play. Each field of contestants will compete for ONE (1) qualifying spot and two alternate positions in the 77th US Girls’ Junior Amateur Golf Championship to be played July 13-18, at the Old Chatham Golf Club, Durham, North Carolina.  The number of qualifying spots are as follows:

STARTING TIMES

The Official Starting Times are posted on the Qualifying webpage.

 

PLAYOFF

In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off, including the holes to be used, will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.

 

FOOTWEAR

Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round.  Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.

 

GROOVES

The players’ clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010).  Please refer to the Qualifying webpage for more detailed information.

 

PING EYE 2 CLUBS

Ping EYE 2 irons manufactured prior to March 31, 1990, may not be used at any stage of Qualifying or at the Championship proper unless they have been tested and found to conform with the current groove specifications.

 

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES

For all levels of this competition, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device.  If during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 4.3a

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF THIS CONDITION: First Offense – Two strokes; Second Offense – Disqualification.

 

EVACUATION PLAN

In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must return to the Clubhouse for further instructions and updates.

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY

Practice rounds are available.  To schedule a practice round, please contact the Golf Shop (651) 439-6981 and identify yourself as a U.S. Girls’ Junior Qualifying contestant.  Practice rounds will be on a space-available basis.  The use of a golf cart during the practice round is optional. 

 

QUALIFYING ROUND FEES

There is no additional fee associated with the qualifying.

 

CADDIES

The Site will not have caddies available.  You must bring your own caddie if you wish to use one, or you may carry your own bag or use a walking cart.  EXCEPTION: A player must not use a parent, stepparent, or guardian as a caddie during Qualifying or the Championship proper.

 

CARTS

Players and Caddies must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. 

 

SPECTATOR CARTS

Spectator carts may be permitted during the Qualifying in very limited cases, such as with a disability placard for parking a car.

GOLF SHOP/LOCKER ROOM/PRACTICE AREAS

These areas will be open for players’ use during the qualifying. 

 

PRACTICE RANGE

The range will be open at least one hour prior to the first starting time.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

Contestants and caddies must be neat in appearance.  Traditional golf attire, including shorts, slack, capris, skorts and golf dresses, may be worn.  Denim, blue jeans and short shorts are prohibited.  The Committee will decide whether this requirement has been met.  The dress code applies to the caddies as well as the players.  A player will be held responsible for the appearance of his caddie.

 

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage service will be available from the clubhouse.
