PGA of Ontario Playing Ability Test Policy - This policy provides guidelines pertaining to applicant pace of play and playing ability. This policy has been introduced by the PGA of Ontario staff and Tournament Committee in response to applicant feedback and observation of applicant experience. The policy is designed to maintain the integrity of our Playing Ability Tests and association, and ensure participants are adequately prepared for the test. The intent is to elevate the overall experience and foster a professional and equitable environment at all PGA of Ontario PAT’s.

DRIVING RANGE

  • No driving range. Chipping and putting areas are available

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

  • $49.00 to walk or $63.00 for the golf and cart package, please call the shop to book (519) 661-4450
    Caddies will not be charged if they are joining for a practice round and not playing. If caddies bring their own clubs for the practice round, they will pay the regular rate

 

CARTS AND ON-COURSE EQUIPMENT

  • Competitors may walk or make arrangements with the host club for the use of a motorized golf cart
  • Carts are not included. Players must adhere to the host facility cart rules
  • The cost is $23.50 HST included

 

TARGET SCORES

  • Applicant Men – Blue Tees, Using PGAO Black Tee Markers
    • Men < 49 years old – course rating plus     9    
    • Men > 50 years old – course rating plus    11
       
    • Men <49 – Rating 69.1, 6095 Yards - Target Score = 78
    • Men >50 – Rating 69.1, 6095 Yards - Target Score = 80
       
  • Applicant Women - Red Tees, Using PGAO Red Tee Markers
    • Women < 49 years old – course rating plus 13
    • Women > 50 years old – course rating plus 15
       
    • Women <49 – Rating 72.0, 5529 Yards - Target Score = 85
    • Women >50 – Rating 72.0, 5529 Yards - Target Score = 87

 

CHECK-IN WITH TOURNAMENT CONVENOR

  • Players are asked to check in at the 1st tee no less than 10 minutes before their tee time. NOTE: Photo Identification will be required when checking in at the tee

 

CADDIES

  • Caddies welcome and MUST wear a PGA of Ontario caddie bib provided to the player at registration

SPECIFICATIONS OF CLUBS AND THE BALL

  1. List of Conforming Driver Heads: Model Local Rule G-1 is in effect
    Penalty for making a stroke with a club in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification
     
  2. Groove and Punch Mark Specifications: Model Local Rule G-2 is in effect
    Penalty for making a stroke with a club in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification
     
  3. List of Conforming Golf Balls: Model Local Rule G-3 is in effect
    Penalty for making a stroke with a ball in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification
     
  4. Replacing Club that is Broken or Significantly Damaged – Model Local Rule G-9 is in effect

MEASURING DEVICES

  • A player may obtain distance information by using a device that: MEASURES DISTANCE ONLY
     
  • However, if a distance measuring device has additional functionality that can gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play (e.g. elevation change, wind speed, etc.), the use of any such additional function would be a breach of Rule 4.3a

 

ELECTRONIC AUDIO OR VIDEO DEVICES

  • During a round, a player must not listen to or watch content of any nature on a personal audio or video device. Rule 4.3
     
  • Penalty for Breach of Rule 4.3
  1.     Penalty for first breach from single act or related acts: Two Strokes
  2.     Penalty for second breach unrelated to first breach: Disqualification

 

TRAVEL

  • The PGA of Ontario assumes no responsibility for entrants' travel arrangements. The PGA of Ontario advises entrants not to book travel or room arrangements before confirmation of tournament acceptance unless those arrangements can be cancelled without penalty

 

DRESS CODE

  • Competitors must adhere to the PGA of Ontario Dress Code which is also available in the competitor registration package. In addition, all golf shirts must be tucked in and hats pointed forward

 

TIME OF STARTING

  • All players in a group must be present and READY TO PLAY at the time laid down by the Committee. The order of play is not relevant. READY TO PLAY is defined as being on or near the player's first tee accompanied with the necessary equipment needed to put a ball in play. Notification by a PGA of Ontario Rules Official will be given to late starters on the first tee or as soon as practicable

 

ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY
 

Stroke Play Event Alcohol Policy
 

  • The consumption of alcohol before or during any PGA of Ontario stroke play event or Playing Ability Test (player and/or caddie) is strictly prohibited. Violation of this policy is considered conduct unbecoming of a Member of the PGA of Ontario, and swift penalty will be issued by the Tournament Captain and PGA of Ontario office
      
  • During Playing Ability Tests, players and their caddies are prohibited from consuming alcohol
       
  • Penalties will be issued based on any Professional violating Liquor Laws, our Tournament Policy and/or the PGA Code of Professional Conduct and Safe Sport Policy

 

Drug Policy

  • The PGA of Ontario will abide by each facility's drug policy

 

ANTI-DOPING POLICY
