FORMAT: Three matches of POD play followed by single elimination bracket match play

 

AGE ELIGIBILITY: 

  • Senior Men must be at least 55 years old on July 17, 2026
  • Senior Women must be at least 50 years old on July 17, 2026
  • Masters Men must be at least 65 years old on July 17, 2026

FIELD SIZE OF CHAMPIONSHIP: 32 Senior Men, 32 Masters Men (65+), 16 Senior Women

 

FIELD MAKEUP: Each field is opened to Exempt players (based on previous SDGA performance) and then remaining spots are opened on March 15 to SDGA members until each of the three Championship fields are full. There are no qualifying events for these Championships.

 

SENIOR & MASTERS MEN POD PLAY: The first three matches will be played in PODS of four players, with each player playing three matches against the other players in the POD. The best record in each POD advances to bracket match play in each division.

 

SENIOR WOMEN POD PLAY: ALL 16 players will advance to bracket match play after POD play. The POD winners and runners-up will play for the Championship. 3rd and 4th place finishers in the POD will play in the Silver bracket.

CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY FEES:

  • Exempt Players Entries Open February 1 until March 15 at 11:59 PM CST
  • Entries Open (first come, first serve) on March 16
  • Men's Senior / Men's Masters (65+) – $150 thru June 17 / $175 after June 17
  • Women's Senior – $130 thru June 17 / $155 after June 17

 

FINAL DEADLINE - Wednesday, July 8 at 11:59 PM CST

 

SDGA ELIGIBILITY: 

SDGA Championship registration is open to amateur golfers with an active Handicap Index™ issued by a current SDGA Member Club and plays the majority of their golf in South Dakota. In addition the player must either: 1) have a permanent physical address in South Dakota, or 2) maintain full-time employment within the state. 

 

An out-of-state student physically attending college in South Dakota and enrolled in the current year’s spring, summer, or fall classes with an active Handicap Index™ issued by a current SDGA Member Club is eligible.
