FORMAT: Three matches of POD play followed by single elimination bracket match play

FIELD SIZE OF CHAMPIONSHIP: 64 Men & 32 Women

 

MEN'S FIELD MAKEUP: Field is filled with Exempt players (based on previous SDGA performance) and qualifiers from the eight Local Qualifiers and the LAST CHANCE Qualifier the day before the event. 

 

WOMEN'S FIELD MAKEUP: Field is opened to Exempt players (based on previous SDGA performance) from February 1 to March 15, and then remaining spots are opened on March 16 to SDGA members until the field is full. There are no qualifying events for the Women's Match Play Championship.

 

POD PLAY: The first three matches will be played in PODS of four players, with each player playing three matches against the other players in the POD. The best record in each pod advances to bracket Match Play in each Championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY FEES:

  • Men - $185
  • Women - $150 by July 1. $175 after July 1.
  • Men's Qualifier entry fees paid are deducted from Championship entry if qualify

 

SDGA ELIGIBILITY: 

SDGA Championship registration is open to amateur golfers with an active Handicap Index™ issued by a current SDGA Member Club and plays the majority of their golf in South Dakota. In addition the player must either: 1) have a permanent physical address in South Dakota, or 2) maintain full-time employment within the state. 

 

An out-of-state student physically attending college in South Dakota and enrolled in the current year’s spring, summer, or fall classes with an active Handicap Index™ issued by a current SDGA Member Club is eligible.
