The 2026 Johnston Meier Insurance Sandpiper Open is our 5th Official Event on the VGT Summer schedule with valuable points at stake for the 2026 SRIXON Order of Merit & “RACE TO WAILEA”!!

To celebrate our 20th Anniversary season, VGT Members will have a chance all season long to qualify for the “RACE TO WAILEA” - A once-and-a-lifetime TRIP TO HAWAII to compete in an exclusive golf tournament at WAILEA GOLF CLUB’S three award winning courses!!

FULL FIELD SIZE: 

PROFESSIONALS: 48 Players

AMATEURS: 96 Players (handicap 26.0 or less)

 

Professional Purse: $20,000*.

1st Place Cheque: $4,500*.  The top 33% of the Open Division field paid out.

Amateur Prizing: $50/player allocated to prizing.

  • Alternating Gross & Net Scores will determine prize pay-outs.

 

*Purse & Prize Payouts are based on full field of 60 Pros.

 

TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY

This event is open to both Male & Female Professionals & Male & Female Amateur Golfers with an official handicap index of 26.0 or less.  This event has an All-Abilities Championship for adaptive golfers.

 

ENTRY FEE INCLUDES:

  • 36-hole Stroke Play Championship at Surrey Golf Club ($160)
  • Amateur tee-gift: A signature LEVELWEAR pullover ($90)
  • Friday night buffet dinner, drink ticket & amazing draw prizes ($50)
  • Saturday lunch ($15)
  • $50/Player in Amateur prizing ($50)
    • Gross and Net Prizing awarded in all four handicap divisions.
  • KP & long drive prizes
  • Winner’s Awards are presented to the Gross Champions in each Division
  • Members earn points for the SRIXON / CLEVELAND Order of Merit & “RACE TO WAILEA”
    • (Estimated $40k in year-end Pro & Amateur prizing, awards & bursaries)
  • Live Leaderboard scoring and Golf Canada Officiating
  • Professional Announcing on the first tee

PLAYER DIVISIONS:

 

OPEN DIVISION: Open for Professionals and Amateurs 5.0 or less hdcp index playing for the ‘OPEN PURSE’.  Amateurs will compete against the Professionals in the field instead of for Amateur prizing.

 

ALL ABILITIES CHAMPIONSHIP:

This championship will have a separate All abilities Championship for adaptive golfers.   

   Entries for the Surrey Open All Abilities Championship are open to the first 24 golfers who

   Are access pass holders or WR4GD Pass Holders registered with EDGA (European Disabled   

  Golf Association).

Registrations may be submitted before a player’s EDGA Pass Application is approved, and registration will be held as “pending” until the approved EDGA pass is submitted to info@vancouvergolftour.com

 

SENIOR DIVISION (55+ years of age & 5.0 or less handicap index). If we have less than 5 Senior Championship division golfers (5.0 & under), they will play one tee shorter than non-senior Championship golfers.

SUPER SENIORS (70+ years) will be allowed to play one tee shorter than players in flight 1-3, and 2 tees shorter if playing in Championship Flight.

 

FOUR AMATEUR FLIGHTS: Open to Male & Female Amateurs with a registered Golf Canada or USGA handicap index of 26.0 or less.

 

Amateur Flight Breakdowns:

Championship Flight: 5.0 & less

Flight One: 5.1 to 9.0 index.

Flight Two: 9.1 to 14.0 index

Flight Three: 14.1 to 26.0 index

 

 

ANTICIPATED TEE YARDAGES:

 

Male Professionals & Championship Amateurs: Approximately 6,800 yards

Female Professionals & Championship Amateurs: Approximately 5,900 yards

Male Senior (55+), Adaptive Golfers & Flight 1-3 Golfers: Approximately 6,200 yards

Male Super Senior (70+) Amateurs: Approximately 5,900 yards

Female Senior, Adaptive Golfers & Flight 1-3 Golfers: Approximately 5,300 yards

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: THURSDAY, APRIL 23rd at 6PM PST.

 

MEMBER PRIORITY:  VGT Members are given priority registration up until April 17th at midnight.  After this time non-members who have registered with payment will be admitted into the field if we are not full with member registrations.

 

TOP VGT MEMBER AT THE END OF THE SURREY OPEN WINS AN EXEMPTION INTO 2026 RBC CANADIAN OPEN FINAL QUALIFYING – Includes FREE FLIGHT to Toronto!

The VGT Member (Professional or Amateur) with the most total points accumulated in the OPEN DIVISION from the following five VGT events will earn an exemption into final stage of qualifying for the 2026 RBC Canadian Open PLUS a FREE FLIGHT to the final qualifier.

 

Event 1: VGT Opening Event (March 23-24th)

Event 2: VGT Mayfair Lakes Open (April 2-3rd)

Event 3: VGT Masters (April 10th)

Event 4: Johnston Meier Insurance Open (April 24-25th)

Event 5: Surrey Open (May 1-2nd)

The member with the most points accumulated thru the five events will bypass regional qualifying and be exempt to final qualifying in May in Toronto.  They will also win a FREE FLIGHT courtesy of VGT. 

*The winning player must register and compete in the RBC CDN Open final qualifying in order to receive the FREE FLIGHT.

Surrey Golf Club Members: $210+GST = $220.50

VGT Members: $340+GST = $357.00

Non-members: $385+GST = $404.25

OPEN DIVISION

 

PROFESSIONALS:

VGT Member: $450+GST = $472.50

Non-Members: $550+GST = $577.50

 

 

AMATEURS (5.0 & less)

Surrey Golf Club Members: $310+GST = $325.50 (play for Open Division cash purse)

VGT Member: $440+GST = $462.00 (play for Open Division cash purse)

Non-Member: $485+GST = $509.25 (play for Open Division cash purse)

 

Elite Amateurs have the option to compete vs. Championship Flight Amateurs only for Amateur gift cards (regular fee) or they can add $100 to their entry fee to compete against the Pros for the “Open Purse” where they can play for the cash purse and win up to $1,200 in cash earnings per event.

 

NOTE: Whether Amateurs play for the ‘Am only’ or “Open’ purse, they will compete for SRIXON Order of Merit points within the Championship Amateur Division.

 

NON-MEMBERS:

Non-member registration will show as ‘pending’ until we can determine we are not full with Members 2 weeks out.  If the event is not full, non-member entries will be accepted in priority of their registration being received, and their status will move from ‘pending’ to ‘registered’.

 For this event, Male and Female Professionals and Amateurs playing in the Open Division will compete against one another for one overall Prize Purse. Female golfers will be provided with a shorter yardage equal to approx..85% of the Men’s yardage.

 

In all other Amateur Divisions (Champ/Senior/Div.1-3), if we receive 5 or more female entries in the division, we will have separate Male and Female Flights within the division. If we do not receive 5 or more female entries in these divisions, female Amateurs will compete vs. the Male Amateurs in their division, playing from approximately 85% of the Male yardage.

 

AMATEUR PRIZING & GIFT CARDS

Players will earn VGT GIFT CARDS for placing in the top 25% of their flight.  They will receive a digital gift card code (and value) that can be cashed in at any time by shopping on our online store at www.myvgt.com.  Players have until October 30, 2026 to cash in their VGT GIFT CARDS if they wish to bundle their winnings up for larger purchases throughout the season!
