CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

  • Schedule: 
    Day 1: Round of 64; Round of 32
    Day 2: Round of 16; Quarterfinals
  • Day 3: Semifinals; Finals
     
  • Field:
    The Championship field will be sixty-four (64) players, comprised of the Defending Champion, Exemptions and the Qualifiers.  All players will compete in Single Elimination Match Play to determine the winner.

     
  • Seeding:

The Defending Champion (if entered) will be seeded #1.  All other players will be seeded based on their position as exempt players or using a differential determined during qualifying. 
 

  • Withdrawals: 

In the event a player withdraws, the spot will be filled as follows:
(1) Exempt Player: The open spot will be filled by the highest ranking alternate from the Overall Alternate List. 
(2) Qualifying Player: The highest ranking alternate from the withdrawing player's Qualifying Site (if available) will fill the spot.  In the event an alternate is not available from the withdrawing player's Qualifying Site, the spot will revert to the highest-ranking player on the Overall Alternate List. 

 

  • This is a WALKING ONLY event.

 

This is an Official WAGR Counting Event.

 

ENTRY FEE

  • Qualifying:  $110
  • Successful Qualifiers:  $80
  • Exempt Players:  $190

 

REGISTRATION 

  • Registration will open on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.  
  • Deadline is April 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
  • Entries are open to the first 84 players to enter at each qualifying site. 
  • A priority entry list has been created, and spots will be held for those players through the entry deadline.  
  • After entries are filled, a waitlist will not be established.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Entry is open to any amateur golfer:

(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry, and
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active, effective the first day of competition for the player (qualifying or championship).

 

  • An entry may be rejected at the discretion of the Committee at any time, including after the competition has closed.

 

NOTE: For eligibility purposes, an MGA Associate Member through the MGA Join On-Line (JOL) program must have a Minnesota connection in addition to JOL membership to participate. Examples of connections would be a MN resident (permanent or seasonal), a non-resident student at a MN school, and/or a MGA course connection, validated by a course employee and/or score posting record. The Committee's decision on such a connection and eligibility is final.

ANTICIPATED STARTING TIMES

  • Monday, June 15 - AM: Round of 64 - Starting times begin at approximately 7:30 am

                                              - PM: Round of 32 - Starting times begin at 12:30 pm

 

  • Tuesday, June 16 - AM: Round of 16 - Starting times begin at 8:30 am

                                 - PM: Quarterfinal matches - Starting times begin at 1:00 pm

 

  • Wednesday, June 17 - AM: Semifinal matches -Starting times at 7:50 & 8:00 am

                                      - PM: Championship match - Starting time 12:40 pm

RULES AND INFORMATION

  • The Rules of Golf, the MGA Terms of Competition (MGA Hard Card), and all Local Rules established specifically for the Championship will be in effect. Local Rules for this event will be available under the Course Details tab.  

 

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES

  • Players are permitted to use distance-measuring devices that measure distance only. 
  • The slope function must be disabled.

 

PACE OF PLAY / PLAYER CONDUCT / DRESS CODE

  • Please refer to the Resources tab for Pace of Play, Player Conduct, and Dress Code policies.

 

CADDIE POLICY 

  • Players may use a Caddie unless prohibited or restricted by a Local Rule.
  • A player is responsible for the behavior and attire of their caddie.
  • Due to parking limitations, players and caddies should plan on carpooling to Spring Hill.

 

DIGITAL SCORING

  • Scoring will be done using the Golf Genius App. Players should have the app downloaded on their phones and be prepared to keep score. The player GGID will be sent via text and email to all players the night before each round using the cell phone number and email in their profile. 

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

  • Practice rounds will be available at the players' expense.
  • Please call the Olympic Hills Golf Shop (952) 941-6265 and identify yourself as an MGA Players' contestant to schedule a practice round.
  • The fee may be dependent upon the day and time you play.

 

STRACKALINE BOOKS

  • The MGA and StrackaLine have teamed up to allow our participants to purchase StrackaLine Yardage & Greens books at a discounted price. Click HERE to order your book. All StrackaLine books conform to the Rules of Golf and may be used in tournament play.

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS

  • To withdraw for any reason before the deadline of an MGA competition, a player may withdraw through Golf Genius or by notifying the MGA in writing. 
  • To withdraw for any reason after the deadline but before the start of the competition, a player must notify the MGA in writing.
  • Refund Policy:
    • Cancellation on or before the entry closing date: Full refund.
    • Cancellation after the entry closing date and up to ONE (1) day before the first day of your competition: Full refund less a $25 administrative fee.
    • Cancellation on the day of the competition or later: No refund.
  • NOTE: In the event that conditions do not permit the total completion of the competition, the Committee reserves the right to cut the field after the first round to the 36 lowest scoring players, plus ties, for play in the second round. No refunds will be given in the event this occurs.
