Terms of competition and additional information

 

Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers with an active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA Member Club and meet the definition of Regular member of the WVGA. Both team members must be Regular Members of the WVGA.  Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.

 Format: The championship will begin with a 18-hole Four-Ball Stoke Play Qualifying round.

Entry Fee: $275 per team

The Top 24 Teams will advance, and seeds 9-24 will play a match following stroke play to determine to advances to the round of 16. Saturday morning will be the round of 16 followed by the Quarterfinal matches. The Semifinal and Championship matches take place on the final day. Defending Champions automatically earn the #2 seed, with the ability to earn the Overall #1 seed during qualifying. 

Seeding: Will be based off the Stroke Play Qualifying. Ties for seeds will be determined by USGA scorecard playoff, a tie for the final spot will result in a sudden death playoff. 

 Field Size: The maximum field size is 48 Teams.

 Practice Round: Practice round fees will be __$50__ payable directly to the Club

 Cart Fees: All cart and green fees for competition are included in the tournament entry fee.

 Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. Final decision will be made by the Executive Director and also the availability of carts at the host facility.

 Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the WVGA cart policy and there is an available seat. * WVGA Cart Policy - there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *

 Pairings: Pairings for the qualifying round will be emailed and updated on the WVGA website by Tuesday August 11th.

 Awards / Gift Certificates: The champion side will receive trophies. Gift certificates will be based on total field size.

 POY Points: State Player of the Year points will  be awarded to all teams advancing to Match Play. Points will be awarded immediately following the completion of the championship.

 Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament.
