MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS


 

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISIONS, FORMAT & CUT
There are two divisions (Open, Senior) in this Championship, each playing 36-holes of four-ball stroke play - no cut.

Listed below is the tentative schedule of events for this year’s championship.

  • 2:00pm................... Player Lunch
  • 2:30pm....................Award ceremony

SUBSTITUTIONS

All substitutions must be made by emailing champs@nysga.org with the following policies in place:

  • After Entry Deadline: If a team is selected for the Championship and then requires a partner change, they are permitted to do so as long as the team's combined Handicap Index remains at or below the established low-to-high cutoff at the time entries closed.


REGISTRATION
Each team is required to have at least one player register at the NYSGA tent by the cart staging area. All required materials (scorecard, Notice to Players, hole locations) will be staged on your golf cart.

PRACTICE ROUNDS
Practice rounds are available on Saturday, May 16 FOR REGISTERED PLAYERS ONLY. The fee is $75 and includes a cart. Tee times are required, call the Leatherstocking Pro Shop at (607) 544-2546.

DRIVING RANGE AND PRACTICE GREEN

The driving range is located just north of the of the club on Route 80 (click here to view map). There is a small putting green located 200 yards from the clubhouse to the right of #5 green, which requires players to walk.

COURSE YARDAGE (TEES)

Play will be from the following approximate yardages:

  • Amateur Division
    • Blue NYSGA Tees (6,338yds//71.7//139)
  • Senior Division
    • White NYSGA Tees (6,009yds//70.1//137)


PLAYER LUNCH ON MONDAY
A complimentary lunch will be provided at the Leatherstocking Clubhouse's Grill & Patio following Monday's round. See the schedule for more information.

FOOD SERVICE

The Mohican Market coffee bar will be open 7:00am - 5:00pm daily at the Otesaga.

EXEMPTIONS
The winners of the 2026 NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be exempt from qualifying for the 2026 NYS Men's Amateur Championship (Glens Falls Country Club) and the 2026 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship (Country Club of Buffalo).

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS
Water bottles, Gatorades and fruit/snacks will be provided on the golf course for players.

 

BAG STORAGE

Players will have the opportunity to store clubs at the course Sunday night between rounds 1 & 2. 

GOLF CARTS
Are required and included in the entry fee.

 

SPECTATORS AND CARTS 

Spectators at NYSGA championships are required to abide by the NYSGA Spectator Policy to ensure fair and safe play for all contestants in the field. If a spectator is found to violate this policy, they will be approached by an NYSGA official and asked to comply. If multiple violations occur, the spectator may be asked to leave the golf course. 

The NYSGA does not permit spectators the use of golf carts during practice and competition rounds. Limited exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for spectators with a disability who (1) complete and submit the 2026 NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form (
click here) and (2) are approved by a member of the NYSGA staff.


LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this Championship.

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this Championship is final when the Championship trophy has been presented.
  • NYSGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2026 NYSGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. Model Local Rules G-1 and G-3 are in effect. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).

 

WITHDRAWALS

To withdraw, promptly notify the NYSGA (call 315-471-6979, or e-mail champs@nysga.org). Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future NYSGA competitions. 

 

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. To view the NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy, click here.

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during this Championship, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the NYSGA.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The NYSGA Code of Conduct Policy is in effect. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA.
