ELIGIBILITY

The Women’s Tri-State is open to female members of Maine Golf.  To register, a player must have a playing membership and an active Handicap Index at a Maine club. To qualify for entry, an applicant must have played in three Maine Golf affiliated events between June 10, 2025 and May 19, 2026. All applicants must commit to two days of play, even in inclement weather. A practice round on Monday, June 8,  is highly recommended, and attendance is mandatory at both the team meeting on Monday evening and the tournament banquet on Tuesday evening.

FORMAT

The championship is a 36-hole, team match play event played with handicaps over two days with two different formats. Thirty Maine players and two alternates will be selected for the team. On day one, teams of two from each state will go out in sixsomes. Playing a Chapman alternate shot, both Maine players will tee off every hole, select a drive, and alternate shots until the ball is holed out. They will compete in two matches concurrently, one against New Hampshire and one against Vermont. On day two, singles matches will be played in threesomes. The Maine player will compete in one match against New Hampshire and in another match against Vermont. Alternates must have handicap indexes from 15.0 to 21.9. Caddies are not allowed.

Players compete in one of three divisions:

Division A:           0.0 to 14.9           10 players
Division B:           15.0 to 21.9         12 players
Division C:           22.0 to 30.0         8 players

ENTRY INFORMATION

All players must file an entry for the championship. The entry fee is covered by the Maine Golf and includes two rounds of golf with a cart, the Monday night banquet, and a team shirt. Players may apply for the championship either online at mainegolf.org or through the Maine Golf Women's Player Portal. Entries will not be taken over the phone.

An entry form from a player who does not have a playing membership or is inactive in GHIN at her home club will be considered incomplete.

Consideration for selection may be given to applicants who have participated in past Tri-State events based on performance and sportsmanship, and to players who demonstrate the spirit needed to win points. The emphasis will be on fielding a balanced and competitive group of players to make up the best possible team in all three divisions. The team is determined by a selection committee.

Entry Deadline: May 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

Players are reminded to apply early to allow time for resolving errors, for completing applications with missing information, and for addressing eligibility issues.
