TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Male amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members.
- Have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index of 8.4 or less issued by their NYSGA member club.
- Be at least 25 years old as of October 5, 2026.
ENTRY INFORMATION
- Entries: Player must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted. A player may only submit one entry. Any player found to have submitted more than one entry may be subject to disqualification.
- Fee: This championship utilizes a two-tiered entry fee:
- Qualifying Fee: $125.
- Exempt & Qualifying Player Fee: $225.
- Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, August 26, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
- Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified via phone or email (315-471-6979 or champs@nysga.org).

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, & SCHEDULE
This Championship will be in two stages, at stroke play:
- Sectional Qualifying - 18 holes: Non-exempt players must qualify at one of the sectional qualifying sites listed below
- Championship - 54 holes: The championship field consists of place-winners from sectional qualifying and exempt players
- Sunday, October 4 // Practice rounds
- Monday, October 5 // Round 1, 18 holes
- Tuesday, October 6 // Round 2, 18 holes
- Wednesday, October 7 // Round 3, 18 holes
- Cut: There is a cut after 18 and 36 holes to the low 60 and 30 players (and ties), respectively.
- Ties: The player with the lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play.
SECTIONAL QUALIFYING (SQR) SCHEDULE
All non-exempt players must qualify to earn a spot in the Championship. Once entries close, the number of qualifying spots available per qualifying site (minimum of 2) will be posted and emailed to players with additional information pertaining to their qualifying site. Ties (max of 4) for the last qualifying spot advance. If there are more than 4 ties, the last qualifying spot will be determined using the USGA method of matching scorecards.

SITE FULL*
A qualifier denoted with an asterisk (*) is at capacity. The final qualifying field of these qualifiers will consist of the players with the lowest USGA Handicap Index as of the entry deadline. A player can choose to remain on the waitlist or may change qualifying sites by notifying the NYSGA via email at champs@nysga.org.
TRANSFERS
The NYSGA may permit a registered player to transfer their entry to another qualifying site, but they must follow the directions below:
- Notify the NYSGA by email (champs@nysga.org).
- The transferring player may be placed on an alternates list for the new site, or fill any openings.
- Alternates are ranked by the time and date of receipt of entry.
- A player can change qualifying sites up until 12pm (noon) of the day prior of the qualifying site the entrant was accepted to.
LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER
The Last Chance Qualifier for the 2026 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship will be announced as information becomes available.
EXEMPT PLAYERS
- 2026 Exemption Categories: Who is exempt from qualifying for the 2026 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship.
- Special Exemption Request: Submit to be considered for a special exemption, must demonstrate impressive recent tournament history.
- The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players must submit an entry prior to the deadline.
INFORMATION & PAIRINGS
Complete Championship details, including information about practice rounds, pairings, starting times, and yardages played, will be emailed to players and posted on this website after entries close.
CADDIES, GOLF CARTS, AND PUSH CARTS
- Caddies: A player may provide his own caddie but they are not required.
- Golf Carts: The use of a motorized golf cart is approved for all stages of this Championship and included in the entry fee for qualifying.
- Push Carts: Permitted without restriction.
NYSGA ONE-SEAT POLICY
Is in effect - click here to learn more. In short, a player has use of one-seat in a cart which can be used by the player or his caddie. Both the player and caddie are not allowed to ride at the same time. If two players in a group are riding, they must take one cart.
