Base Access Pass: Each person, players, caddies, spectators, wanting to get on base must complete the online visitor registration and be cleared to enter the Air Force Academy base. This pass must be approved before the first day of the event. You will enter through the South Gate. Pass approval can take up to 72 hours. CLICK HERE FOR VISITOR PASS LINK. 

Non US Citizens or Passport Only Holders: You must go to the Pass and Registration office in-person to complete the visitor registration process and be cleared to enter the Air Force Academy base. This must be done before the first day of the event.  You will enter through the South Gate. The office is located just outside the South Gate on the right side and is open during the weekdays (excluding the third Tuesday of each month), 7:30am - 3:00pm.

Field Size: 16 entrants.

Note: Tournament is filled on a first come, first served basis using the registration date and time. If a tournament is oversubscribed, a wait list will be maintained in case of cancellation.

Format: Individual Match Play. The Championship will be played using the PGA TOUR style Pod Play/Round Robin system, with matches played at scratch, no handicap. Players who register for the championship will play at least three (3) matches in the championship (excluding byes if applicable). Players will be seeded by handicap index, except the defending champion who will be seeded number 1 if applicable. After each player is seeded, players will be evenly split into four (4) pods with four (4) players in each pod (see pod structure below). During pod play, players compete in three 18-hole matches against each of the other three players in their pod (see schedule below). The winner of each pod will advance to the semi-finals, and the single elimination knockout rounds will begin.

Monday (7/6): Day 1 of Pod Play 
Tuesday (7/7): Day 2 of Pod Play 

Wednesday Morning (7/8): Day 3 of Pod Play 

Wednesday Afternoon (7/8): Semi-Finals 

Thursday (7/9): 18-Hole Championship Match 

Player Seeding: Players will be seeded 1 – 16, based on their handicap index as of the revision date above, excluding the defending champion who will be seeded #1, if applicable. Player seeding will be available under the championship information tab. 

Pod Structure: Pod Structure will be weighted evenly with pod 1 containing 1v16 and 8v9, pod 2 containing 2v15 and 7v10, pod 3 containing 3v14. and 6v11, pod 4 containing 4v13 and 5v12.  Pod structure will be available under the championship information tab. 

Pod Play Scoring: There will be no extra holes during the pod play portion of matches. Scoring during pod play will be as follows: Match Won – 1 point | Match Tied – ½ point | Match Lost – 0 Points. 

Note: If there is a tie for the pod winner, a sudden death playoff will determine the person advancing from that pod.

Starting Times: Beginning sometime between 7:00am - 9:00am Monday - Wednesday. Beginning at 7:40am on Thursday.  

Tee Time Estimates: Will be available under the championship information tab. 

Groupings: Players will play in groups of four during Pod Play. There will be two matches taking place at each tee time. 

Carts: Carts are optional, included in entry fee.

Note: Only two carts are allowed per group. 

Caddies: Caddies are allowed.

Note: Caddies are not guaranteed a seat in a cart. Only two carts are allowed per group. Players have priority for carts over caddies. 

Prizes: Merchandise gift certificates are awarded to the winner, runner-up, semi-finalists. The championship winner and runner-up will each receive a trophy. The winner will be the state match play champion.

Practice Round Information: Tee times are subject to availability after 2:00pm only, can be made by calling the golf shop at 719-333-2606. Pricing: $90 course fee, $20 cart fee. 

Note: Prior to the practice round players will need to fill out the base access registration form and be pre-approved to gain access to the base. See more information on base access under the "championship information" tab. 

Yardage Sheet: Will be available under the Championship Information tab. 

Electronic Scoring: Players will use the Golf Genius app to score their match as they play. The winner of the match will report the status of the match to the committee.  

Food & Beverage: Will be available for purchase. 

Score Posting: Scores from match play events will NOT be posted by the CGA. The player may post their own score at the end of a round. The Tournament Director will provide the applicable slope/rating for posting purposes.
