2026 BDGA Senior Championship

Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership:  All players must have an active USGA GHIN Handicap at a BDGA Member Club, or reside in a BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through the NYSGA eClub - WNY (Residency Required). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.
  • Age: Entrants must be at least 50 years of age as of September 15, 2026.
  • USGA Handicap Index: Have a USGA Handicap Index of 14.0 or less.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

  • Field Size: 60 players (Senior: 31, Super Senior: 20, Masters: 9). If any division does not reach capacity, open spots will be filled using players from another division's waitlist.
  • Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure: Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the player's combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. A player's entry will be added to the Championship's pending registration field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on September 10th, all players in each division will be ordered by their current Handicap Index by low-to-high. The player's in each division with the lowest Handicap Index, based on division size (above), will then be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved player's will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
  • Waitlisted Players: Any player that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $170. This includes the green, cart and range fees, a meal, prizes, and awards.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Thursday, September 10, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy:

    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

 

FORMAT

The format is 36 holes of individual stroke play.

 

DIVISIONS

There are three divisions in this championship that will compete from different sets of tees:

  • Seniors (50-59)
  • Legends Division (60-69)
  • Masters (ages 70+)

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The BDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM EST on Thursday, September 10th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

PLAYER LUNCH

Player lunches will be provided for both rounds.

 

GOLF CARTS AND DRIVING RANGE

The use of golf carts and the driving range is included in the entry fee. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy will be in effect. 

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Timing varies based on club availability. Contact club for more information.

PRIZES AND AWARDS

The champion in each division will receive a trophy. Additional top finishers (based on the number of entrants) will receive prizes as gift certificates from the pro shop.
