12th NWAGA Bobbie Hopp Challenge

The format for the Challenge is Net Four-Ball Match Play with sides playing five 9-hole matches (called races) within a flight. Each flight, determined by Team Handicap, is comprised of six two-person sides. Individuals compete using 90% of their 9-hole Course Handicap. The 9-hole Course Handicap of all four players in a match will be reduced by the 9-hole Course Handicap of the player with the lowest Handicap, who then plays from scratch. Sides earn a point in each match for winning a hole and a half point for tying a hole. There are nine available points in each match however the maximum number of points a team can win in any match is 6, the minimum is 0. The side that accumulates the most points following the five matches wins their respective flight. Three matches take place Monday, June 17 with two matches on Tuesday, June 18. Within each flight, medals will be awarded to the winning team and merchandise prizes will be presented to the top two finishers.

Included in the entry fee is golf, cart, use of the practice facility, a player dinner after round one and awards luncheon following round two.

Eligibility: Entrant must be an Amateur Golfer with an active USGA Handicap Index® issued by a “member club” of the Nebraska Golf Association. Entrant must also be a member of NWAGA and a “resident” of Nebraska (See below).

An individual is considered to be a resident of Nebraska if they: maintain either a primary or a secondary residence in Nebraska, or are an active duty member of the United States Military stationed in Nebraska, or are a student physically attending college in Nebraska within a time period four-months prior to the event, or are a graduate of a Nebraska high school attending an out-of-state college. If the above criteria are in question, the NWAGA Tournament Committee shall render any final decision.

Field Size: Field is limited to 36 sides (two players).

Entry Fee: Entry fee of $230 must be paid by every side. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if NWAGA is notified (402-505-4653, x103) before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded in the event of a medical condition, if requested before the first day of competition. No refund for any reason after that. A $25 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.

Entry Period: NWAGA only accepts on-line applications. Entries open at 8 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Entries must be received by NWAGA no later than 5 p.m. CDT on Monday, June 10, 2019. If the competition receives more than the maximum number of entries by 12 p.m. CDT on May 1, a drawing will be used to determine the field and wait list order. If the tournament does not receive more than the maximum number of entries by 12 p.m. CDT on May 1, the field will be determined by order of entry. Entries may be accepted after the deadline, if field is not full, at the discretion of NWAGA. Entries may no longer be accepted once flights have been announced. Partner substitutions may be made prior to tournament play. Because substitutions may affect a team’s pairing based on handicap every effort should be made to find a new partner with a similar handicap.

 

Practice Rounds: Available at a time convenient to Elks Country Club (402-564-4930). Fee is $30 (including cart). Please note: certain dates and times may be restricted based on club activity.

 

Course Set-Up: Red Tees (5,369 yards, Par 72)

Lodging: Block reserved at Columbus Holiday Inn Express (402 564-2566); to guarantee rate of $119.95+tax reservation must be made by May 24; After May 24, rate guaranteed based on availability only; Reference Nebraska Women’s Golf Association when making reservation.

Handicap: Flights will be determined following the June 15 Handicap Revision by adding the partner’s Handicap Indexes together and multiplying by 90% (maximum individual handicap index is 40.4). If there are two or more teams with identical Team Handicaps the team with the lowest Handicap player will be put in the lowest flight. Teams will be listed in flights from the lowest Team Handicap to the highest. Individuals will compete using 90% of a 9-hole Course Handicap. The 9-hole Course Handicap of all four players in a match will be reduced by the 9-hole Course Handicap of the player with the lowest Handicap, who then plays from scratch. The maximum individual 9-hole Course Handicap is 18.
