Sebastian Iberia-Calzada
I’m Sebastián, a proud Mexican who’s called the Bahamas home for the past eight years. My love for golf began at age six, growing up near a course in Mexico City with exceptional coaches. I competed in national tournaments across Mexico, but when my family moved to a smaller city at 15, I had no access to instructors—so I became my own coach. That independence eventually led me to pursue teaching, and I traveled to San Diego for a two-week clinic on golf instruction.
While earning my degree in civil engineering, I taught golf in the afternoons, balancing academics with my passion. After graduation, I moved to the Bahamas for a role in an air conditioning company, but I made sure to stay connected to the sport. I sought out opportunities to play and train, eventually earning a spot on the Bahamas National Team.
Golf has opened incredible doors for me in this country, and I’m deeply grateful for every experience. Representing the Bahamas as a Mexican is a true honor—and a reminder that passion and perseverance can take you anywhere.
