2026 BDGA Match Play Championship

Terms of the Competition

 

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership:  All players must have an active USGA GHIN Handicap at a BDGA Member Club, or reside in a BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through the NYSGA eClub - WNY (Residency Required). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.
  • Age: To compete in the Senior Division, players must be at least 50 years old as of August 25, 2026.
  • USGA Handicap Index: There are no Handicap Index requirements.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $155. This includes the green fees, cart, prizes, and awards.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Friday, August 19, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy:

    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

 

FORMAT

The format of this championship is match play.

 

FIELD SELECTION AND SEEDING

Each division (see below) is limited to 16 players. Field selection and seeding are based on the 2026 points standings. If all players are not on the points standings, they will be ordered by USGA Handicap Index as of the entry deadline.

 

DIVISIONS

There are two Men's divisions in this championship: Open Division (all ages) and Senior Division (ages 50+).

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Open Division: Green Tees (~6,800yds)

Senior Division: Blue Tees (~6,400yds)

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Round of 16: Wednesday, August 25 // Tee times 1:00pm - 2:30pm

Quarterfinals: Thursday, August 26 // Tee times 1:00pm - 1:30

Semifinals & Finals: Friday, August 27 // Tee times 8:30am - 9am & 1:00pm - 1:20pm

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Information on practice rounds will be released at a later date. 

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The BDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Friday, August 19th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Lunch will be available after the Round of 16 on Wednesday, August 25th.

 

GOLF CARTS AND DRIVING RANGE

The use of golf carts and the driving range is included in the entry fee. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect.

 

AWARDS AND PRIZES

The champion and runner-up will each receive a trophy. Additional top finishers will receive prizes as gift certificates from the pro shop. 

 

RANKINGS

The 2026 BDGA Match Play Championship is ranked by World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) & Team New York.
