96th Nebraska Women's Match Play Championship

The 96th Nebraska Women's Match Play Championship features three divisions (Championship, Senior Gross and Net). The Championship Division is comprised of those golfers with a Handicap Index of 6.0 or less and those with a Handicap Index above 6.0 that declare Championship. The Senior Gross Division is comprised of golfers 49 and older with a Handicap Index of 6.0 or less and those that meet the age criteria with a Handicap Index above 6.0 that delcare Senior Gross. The Net Division includes those entrants with a Handicap Index above 6.0 that choose not to participate in either Championship or Senior Gross. In both the Championship and Senior Gross Divisions, qualifying for brackets and seeds will take place Monday and will be based on gross score. All matches are gross and begin after qualifying. In the Net Division, golfers are pre-flighted into brackets and then play a qualifying round on Monday to determine seeds based on net score. All matches are Net and begin after qualifying. 

 

Included in the entry fee is golf, use of the practice facility prior to play and a player luncheon on both Monday and Tuesday.
 

ELIGIBILITY: To participate in the Senior Gross division, Participants must have reached their 49th birthday by the first day of the championship. Entrant must be a female amateur golfer with an active USGA Handicap Index® issued by a “member club” of the Nebraska Golf Association. Entrant must also be a member of NWAGA and a “resident” of Nebraska (See below).

An individual is considered to be a resident of Nebraska if they: maintain either a primary or a secondary residence in Nebraska, or are an active duty member of the United States Military stationed in Nebraska, or are a student physically attending college in Nebraska within a time period four-months prior to the event, or are a graduate of a Nebraska high school attending an out-of-state college. If the above criteria are in question, the NWAGA Tournament Committee shall render any final decision.

 

DIVISIONS: There are three divisions (Championship, Senior Gross and Net). The Championship Division is comprised of those golfers with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less and those that declare Championship. The Senior Gross Division is comprised of those golfers 49 and older with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less and those that declare Senior Gross. (Note: Golfers 49 and older with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less must choose to compete in either the Championship division or the Senior Gross division.) The Net Division will be comprised of those golfers with an up-to-date handicap index exceeding 6.0.
 

ENTRY FEE: Entry fee of $105 must be paid by every player. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if the NGA or NWAGA is notified (402-505-4653, x103) before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded in the event of a medical condition, if requested before the first day of competition. No refund for any reason after that. A $25 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.

 

ENTRY PERIOD: On-line applications only. Entries open at 8 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. CDT on Monday, July 8, 2019. Entries may be accepted after the deadline, if field is not full, at the discretion of NGA/NWAGA. Entries may no longer be accepted once groupings have been announced.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS: Available at a time convenient to the Fremont Golf Club (402-721-6642). Fee is $25 (includes cart). Please note: certain dates and times may be restricted based on club activity.

 

COURSE SET-UP: Championship Division - 5,831 yards, Par 71; Senior Gross Division - 5,610 yards, Par 73; Net Division - 5,482 yards, par 75

 

LODGING: Block reserved at Fremont Holiday Inn Express (402 753-3850); to guarantee rate of $119.95+tax reservation must be made by June 21; After June 21, rate guaranteed based on availability only; Reference Nebraska Women’s Golf Association when making reservation.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE: Monday, July 15 - A.M. - Registration, Practice Areas Open, Stroke Play Qualifying, 18-Holes, Shotgun Start, P.M. - Player Luncheon, Match Play – Session One; Tuesday, July 16 - A.M. - Practice Areas Open, Match Play – Session Two, P.M. - Player Luncheon, Match Play – Session Three; Wednesday, July 17 - A.M. - Practice Areas Open, Match Play – Final Session, P.M. - Awards Presentation. Note: exact match play schedule will based on number and size of divisional brackets

HANDICAP: Individual Handicap Indexes will be based on the July 15 Handicap Revision. The Championship Division is comprised of those golfers with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less and those that declare Championship. The Senior Gross Division is comprised of those golfers 49 and older with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less and those that declare Senior Gross. (Note: Golfers 49 and older with an up-to-date handicap index of 6.0 or less must choose to compete in either the Championship division or the Senior Gross division.) The Net Division will be comprised of those golfers with an up-to-date handicap index exceeding 6.0. Qualifying pairings will be determined based on individual Handicaps. The Net Division is pre-flighted based on Handicap. Seeds for the Net Division will be determined based on net score in qualifying. All Net Division matches are net.

 

TIES: In case of a tie for the final spot in the Championship bracket only, a playoff will determine place winner(s). All other qualifying ties will be broken by order of return.
