History of the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball: This annual team event was introduced in 1982 in honor of Dolly Sullivan, who was the niece of American golf legend Francis Ouimet. Sullivan served as golf coach at nearby Milton Academy for 32 years.
Format:
- 18 holes of Best Ball of four stroke play
- Teams play their own ball on each hole
- At the end of each hole the four-person team writes down the best person’s gross score on that hole
- Gross and Net Divisions
Teams play one 18-hole round during one of the two days
Handicaps: All golfers will play to 75% of their Course Handicap™ as of August 5, 2026. Players will be limited to a 36 Playing Handicap™.
Tees: Mass Golf Red Tees from ~5,118 yards.
Tee Times: Monday Morning shotgun will go off at 8:00 a.m. The afternoon shotgun will go off at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday Morning will go off at 8:30 a.m.
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.
Practice Areas: The driving range and putting green will be accessible before play beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday (the driving range is located across the street).
Pace of Play: Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.
Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and the unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the Mass Golf table located in the ballroom inside the clubhouse. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.
Awards: All ties will be decided by a matching of cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Gift cards (gross & net places) will be given out and must be redeemed at The Haven Country Club.
Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.
Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.
Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.
Bathrooms: In the clubhouse and on course at the snack snack accessible after holes 2, 7, 14, and 17.
Water and Snacks: Mass Golf will put water bottles in the carts at the start of the round. There will be one beverage cart on course from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. that will be offering alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages. The snack shack will also be available to purchase snacks and alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages available for players. CREDIT CARD ONLY cashless facility.
Food and Beverage: A buffet style lunch will be served in the clubhouse on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for the afternoon and morning shotgun and Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages are available for purchase in the clubhouse. CREDIT CARD ONLY cashless facility.
DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
