2026 BDGA Boys' & Girls' Junior Stroke Play Championship

Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to all junior golfers (boys and girls) within the BDGA region who are 18 years old or younger as of July 22, 2026.

  • Membership: All players must have an active USGA Handicap Index at a BDGA Member Club or reside within the BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through the NYSGA eClub of Western New York (Free for Juniors). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: FREE for all divisions courtesy of the Diane Fermoile-McAvoy fund & Buffalo District donations to support junior golf.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on July 15, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

 

FORMAT

The format is 36 holes at stroke play, except for the Girls' 9-hole Division who will play two 9-hole rounds (18 holes total).

 

DIVISIONS

There are four divisions:

  • Boys' Junior Division (ages 15-18) 
  • Boys' Sub-Junior Division (ages 14 & Under) 
  • Girls' 18-hole Division (Competitive) 
  • Girls' 9-hole Division (Recreational)

 

NOTE: Team NY Points will only be awarded to Boys participating in the 18U Division & Girls competing in the 18-hole Competitive Division. If you are a 14U wishing to compete for Team NY Points please contact Jack Corcoran (jcorcoran@nysga.org) before the entry deadline (July 15th, 2026).

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

TIES

If there is a tie for the winner in any division, a sudden-death will be used unless it is impossible due to darkness or course unavailability. Otherwise, ties will be broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards, which compares the last nine holes (10-18), then last six holes (13-18), last three holes (16-18), and last hole (18)

CADDIES

The use of caddies is permitted given the caddie is not the child's parent or guardian.

 

PLAYER LUNCH

Boxed lunch will be available both days.

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The BDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Thursday, July 15th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

RANKINGS

The 2026 BDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship is ranked by  Junior Golf Scoreboard & Team New York. 

 

                                                           

 

EXEMPTIONS
The winner and runner-up of the Boys 18U Division & the winner of the Girls 18U Division will be exempt into the 2027 NYS Boys' & Girls 18U Junior Amateur Championship*. If age eligible
