History of the Father Son Modified Scotch Tournament: The Father Son Tournament originated at Essex County Club. Last year's winners were Al and Peter Alminas.

 

Format:

  • 18 holes of Modified Scotch format (commonly known as Modified Foursomes)
  • Both golfers hit their tee shot and select which drive they want to use. They then play alternate shots into the hole. 

 

Tees: All play will be from the Mass Golf Blue Tees from ~6,400 yards.

 

Tee Times: Tee times will begin at 7:00 AM.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.

 

Practice Areas:  The practice green and driving range are located by the clubhouse, and will be accessible before play. Please return carts immediately following the round.

 

Practice Rounds: 

  • Available Monday - Thursday anytime, Friday-Sunday after 4:00 PM.
  • In order to schedule a practice round YOU MUST CALL the golf shop. No walk-up times will be available.
    • Please introduce yourself as a competitor in the Mass Golf Father Son Tournament.

  • There will be a MANDATORY cart/trail fee of $40/player for a practice round.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring area. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.

 

Playoff: In the event of a tie for the Champion only, there will be a hole-by-hole sudden death playoff on holes designated by the Committee to determine the Champion team. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA® recommended method.

 

AwardsThe Father Son Senior Division has a permanent trophy that will be engraved with the names of the winners, and the winners will be given take-home trophies. Prize Certificates will be given out and must be redeemed at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of GolfLocal Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.

 

Bathrooms: Restrooms are available in the clubhouse, as well as in the snack shack on the course, which is accessible via holes 5, 10, 14, and 18.

 

Food and Beverage: Complimentary lunch will be available in the clubhouse or in the snack shack. The snack shack will also be open to purchase food and beverages, and is accessible via holes 5, 10, 14, and 18.
