ELIGIBILITY
This invitation is open to active high school junior golfers with an excellent competitive history.

ENTRY FEE & REFUND POLICY

  • Entry Fee: $100, paid by credit card when registering online via Golf Genius. A junior is charged only after their entry into the event has been approved.
  • Refund Policy: Juniors who have been charged will be issued a refund, less a $10 service fee, if notice is provided (email ogccjunior@gmail.com) by Friday, September 11, 2026. There are no refunds after this time.
     

FORMAT, TIES & DIVISIONS

  • Format: 36 holes, individual stroke play.
  • Ties: Ties for the winner are broken by sudden-death playoff.
  • Divisions: There is a division for boys and girls.


RULES
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. Andrew Hickey (NYSGA staff) will serve as the lead Rules Official, supported  by a team of trained volunteers available to assist players and answer questions.

PRACTICE FACILITIES

The club's driving range, practice putting greens, and short-game area are available to contestants. The range is limited to 230 yards—please do not play any shot that could clear the protective net at the far end.

PRACTICE ROUNDS
A complimentary practice round is available for accepted juniors (no parents or other guests), after 2:00pm and walking only on a date outlined in the bullet points below. To schedule a tee time, you must email the Onondaga pro shop at proshop@ogcc1898.com - please do not call the pro shop.

  • Traveling less than 75 miles? Email the pro shop with your name and at least two dates (after 2:00pm) - now through Friday, September 11 - that work for your schedule. The pro shop will either respond to confirm one of the times or, if neither work, reach out with other dates.
  • Traveling more than 75 miles? You have the same access as above, plus exclusive access to Saturday, September 12. Only players whose home residence is more than 75 miles from the club will be permitted on this date. Request your time by email using the same process.


PRACTICE ROUND RULES & CLUB REGULATIONS

  • Juniors may arrive up to 45 minutes before their scheduled tee time - no earlier.
  • Check in at the pro shop immediately upon arrival.
  • Practice:
    • Before the round is permitted. Balls will be on the range and the practice green at the club's entrance is available for chipping.
    • After the round is prohibited.
  • Club rules apply:
    • Proper golf attire.
    • Hats must not be worn inside the clubhouse
    • Hats must be worn facing forward only.
    • Golf shoes must be changed in the locker room - not in the parking lot.
    • Cell phones must be set to silent.
    • Talking on cell phones is prohibited except when (1) in your vehicle or (2) in a phone booth located inside the clubhouse.
    • Texting on cell phones is allowed without restrictions.
  • Practice after the practice round is prohibited.
  • Any incidental charges incurred must be paid in cash - no credit cards (except in the pro shop).


LIVE SCORING USING GOLF GENIUS
One player in each group is responsible for entering unofficial scores for every player in the group via the Golf Genius app. Please download the app before arriving at the course; your scoring code will be printed on your scorecard.

PLAYER LUNCH & ON-COURSE REFRESHMENTS

  • Players: Provided with a complimentary lunch between rounds. Snacks and refreshments are staged on the course during both rounds.
  • Spectators: May purchase lunch for $20 (cash only).

 

CADDIES, CARTS & PUSH CARTS
Caddies and riding carts are not permitted. Push carts are permitted.

ATTIRE

  • Boys: Golf shirts must always be tucked in, shorts must be at Bermuda length, and golf hats must not be worn in the clubhouse.
  • Girls: Traditional golf shirts with collars or sleeves; sleeveless shirts with a collar, crew neck or high neck are permitted. Slacks and Bermuda-length (i.e., exceeding fingertip length) golf dresses, skirts, skorts and shorts are acceptable


CODE OF CONDUCT
There is a zero tolerance for foul language, club throwing or slamming, and poor sportsmanship.

COURSE CARE
Players are expected to leave the course as they found it. Please replace all divots (or fill them with the sand/seed mix provided), repair your ball mark and one other on every green, and rake bunkers before exiting. Caring for the course is part of competing with respect for Onondaga, the field, and the game.

CELL PHONES
The use of cell phones is limited to texting and use for Live Scoring. Phone calls are to be made in vehicles or phone booths located in the clubhouse.

LOCKER ROOMS
Contestants may use the locker facilities to change and put on golf shoes.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY
A brief awards ceremony will be held on the patio overlooking the 18th green immediately after the final round concludes


CLUB VOLUNTEERS (MARSHALS)
Club members serving as Marshals will be on the course to assist with pace of play, rules questions, and general etiquette.


SPECTATORS

Spectators are welcome to follow the competition anywhere on the course, but must remain well clear of play and 'outside the ropes' - meaning in the rough, and not on fairways, bunkers, or putting greens. Spectators may not walk alongside a player or give instructions or advice. Golf attire is requested (no denim or cargo shorts). Cell phone must be set to silent and their use is limited to texting; calls may be taken in vehicles or in a phone booth in the clubhouse.

Spectator carts are not permitted.
