WELCOME CLUB VOLUNTEERS!

 

The NYSGA is excited to partner with Cavalry Club members to help deliver a premier championship experience on one of Central New York's finest Joe Lee and Dick Wilson designs. Club volunteers play a vital role in creating lasting memories for players, families, and the club — and we're proud to have Cavalry members as part of the team.
 

The 2026 NYS Boys' & Girls' 18U Junior Amateur Championship will be contested June 29 – July 1, 2026, bringing 156 of New York's best junior golfers to Cavalry Club.
 

The Member Volunteer Program is built to achieve two goals:
 

#1 — Deliver an elite championship experience for players. Club volunteers elevate the look, feel, and efficiency of the championship — helping players on the course, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and giving the event the feel of a national-level competition.
 

#2 — Ensure club volunteers enjoy their own experience. The NYSGA provides training, support, and recognition to ensure every volunteer is prepared, supported, and proud of their contribution..


VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES

  • Spotting Committee:  On-course support helping players locate errant shots and protecting blind areas. Stations are pre-assigned with chairs, umbrellas, and shuttle support from the Volunteer Chairs.
  • Player Registration Committee: Welcome players and caddies at check-in, confirm tee times, distribute caddie bibs and player gifts.
  • Live Scoring (Final Round Only): Walk with groups on Wednesday's final round and enter scores into the Golf Genius app. Best seat in the house
  • Medical Committee: O On-site first aid and emergency response support. Medical background preferred.
  • Player Experience & Hospitality Committee: O Off-course support including clubhouse setup, family welcome, and local area recommendations for traveling players and parents.


WHAT VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE

  • Complimentary championship-logoed golf shirt and hat
  • Identifying name badge
  • Complimentary lunch during championship days
  • Training from NYSGA staff (in-person and recorded)


HOW TO SIGN UP

Complete the club volunteer registration form. Select the committees you're interested in and we'll be in touch. A follow-up survey will be sent prior to championship week to confirm your shift availability and finalize assignments.
