Championship Player Memo

This correspondence will verify your qualification for the GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championship at Woodside Golf Course on Monday–Tuesday, July 22-23, 2019.

Please note your starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should gather around the pro shop at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time for instructions.

INFORMATION:

TOURNAMENT DATE: Monday, July 22nd – Tuesday, July 23rd
 
DIRECTIONS: Take I-96 to Exit 106 B (I-496 North). I-496 North to Exit 8 (MI-127 North). Continue on MI-127 N to Exit 79 (W Lake Lansing Rd). Continue on W Lake Lansing Rd to Wood Rd. Drive North on Wood Rd, Woodside GC is on the left-hand side.

PRACTICE ROUNDS: Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (517) 242-8527. Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championship contestants.  

FORMAT:

Monday, July 22: 
Morning – 12 holes - Stroke Play (Shotgun Start) Match Play Flights will be based on morning scores. 
Afternoon – Matches, starting off hole No. 1 at 11:30am

Tuesday, July 23: 
Morning – Matches, starting off hole No. 1 at 7:30am
Afternoon – Matches, starting off hole No. 1 at 10:45am 

*All participants qualify for Match Play and will play three matches

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4-3, for which the penalty is the GENERAL PENALTY for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the round.

FOOD:  A complimentary box lunch will be available during both days of the Championship for players only. The Pro shop does sell limited snack and drink items including candy bars, chips, Gatorade, and pop. 

PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Range will open one hour before the first tee time. 

PLAYOFF: Ties during the stroke-play portion of the Championship will be broken by matching scorecards and using the method prescribed by the Rules of Golf in Committee Procedures Section 5A(6).  The round will be extended in Match Play until a winner is determined.

PRIZES: The Winner and Runner-Up of each flight will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony after the conclusion of play on July 23. 

WITHDRAWAL:  If you have to withdraw, please notify the GAM by emailing tournamententry@gam.org. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions. Refunds will be issued if the GAM office is notified prior to the close of entries for that competition. After the entry deadline, fees will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness (with a verified doctor's note). There is a $20 processing fee applied to all refunds.
