History of the Men's Team Matches Championship: The first Men's Team Matches Championship was played at Ipswich Country Club on October 21, 2024, with 15 regions represented, and was won by Foxborough Country Club. The 2025 Championship was played at Willowbend, and was won by Oakley Country Club.
Format:
- 18 holes of Net Four-Ball stroke play (commonly known as Best-Ball)
- Each team's score will be determined by its aggregate score.
- Partners for each team will be paired by handicap index, low to high.
Handicaps: 85% Playing Handicap™ as of October 8, 2026.
Tees: All players will be playing from Mass Golf blue tee markers from ~6,000 yards.
Starting Time: 11:00 AM Shotgun Start.
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.
Practice Areas: The driving range will be open beginning at 9:30 AM. The driving range is limited to shots of 160 yards or less - please plan accordingly.
Pace of Play: Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.
Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.
Awards: The Champion team will receive a framed Mass Golf flag for the club they are representing. All ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with the USGA recommended method.
Practice Rounds: Practice rounds are available under the following conditions:
- Availability: Tuesday 10/6 through Friday 10/9.
- Please book by calling the Pro Shop directly at 508-481-5340.
- Fees: Greens fee of $50 and cart fee of $29 plus tax.
Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.
Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.
Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.
Bathrooms: Bathrooms are located in the clubhouse and in the pro shop.
Water and Snacks: Mass Golf will provide bottled water on carts. Water is also available on holes 4, 7, 13, 15, and 16.
Food and Beverage: Buffet service post-round is included with your registration fee. The snack shack will also be open during the round for purchase.
DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
