Rules
General:
In the AZ Golf 2026 Overseed Open, players can play a total of 3 rounds within the time available which is October 16, 2026, to November 16, 2026. The best score of all 3 rounds will count for the qualification of the Overseed Open Championship on November 16, 2026. At the end of the series the top 16 players will advance to the Championship.
Each event is played in the same manner as a traditional outdoor tournament. The same Rules of Golf as they pertain to indoor/virtual/simulator play apply. Accordingly:
- A player must not start a tournament with more than 14 clubs.
- Tees may be used on shots from the tee box only
- No changes to environment (tee area, lighting, alignment aids, etc.) are allowed during the round
- All shots must be hit from the “Strike Zone”
Exceptions to the traditional Rules of Golf are in place when playing the Overseed Open.
- You are allowed to discuss what clubs you are hitting with playing partners due to the nature of visual club selection on the simulator screen.
Putting:
In the Overseed Open, manual aimed putting with a 2.4m which converts to 7.8ft gimme circle will be the setting for all putting Gimme Circle:
-
- Although putt measurements are rounded up or down to a single decimal place on screen, the gimme circle is still drawn to this more precise distance.
- Borderline Gimme Putts (screen will display 7.9 for all these distances)
7.85-7.87 ft GIMME
7.88-7.94 ft NOT A GIMME
“Pick Up” Rule:
If a player picks up the ball (by tapping the “Pick up” button on-screen) before holing out, the score will be a quadruple bogey, regardless of the number of shots hit before picking up. If a player chooses to continue playing and holes out, all strokes on the hole will be counted, with no maximum. Players are encouraged to use the “Pick-up” button if they wish to limit their score on a hole to a quadruple bogey.
The pick-up feature may not be used tactically solely to participate in Side Games. Closes to pin and longest drive prizes may only be won by players who complete the stroke play competition in a normal manner.
Side Games:
The tournament will include side games not related to the order of finish, with a special tee prize. There are no tie breakers on the side games. All tied players will receive the prize.
Results:
Results will be posted and updated on Golf Genius as scores come in from the Trackman system. The lowest score to date will be the one shown on the leaderboard.
Tie Rules:
If there are ties for a qualifying spot for the Overseed Open Championship:
- Lowest back nine
- Lowest score on last six holes
- Lowest score on last three holes
- Lowest score on hole 18
- Lowest score on hole 4-9
- Lowest score on hole 7-9
- Lower score in hole 9
Technology Issues:
If there are any technical issues that affect the final scorecard, we suggest you bring up the issue to the facility owner/employee first. Then please contact Alicia Barron at alicia@azgolf.org describing the issue.
- For untracked shots the player will re-hit/ putt until the shot is tracked.
- If system crashes the player should restart the TPS and click resume round
- If stuck in bushes and cannot play out (click “pick-up”) resulting a quadruple bogey
Disqualification/ Round will not count
We want this series to be fun and fair to all who participate. The following could result in a disqualification, or the round will not count as score.
- Impersonation is a disqualification (using other players’ trackman accounts, creating multiple accounts, etc.)
- Pausing the round and resuming at a later time is not allowed and may result as a score that will not count (unless system crashes)
