PGA NATIONAL RESORT & SPA – CHAMPION COURSE

Notice to Players

 

(This information supplements the Championship entry and the Local Rules and Terms of the Competition for 2019 CGA Championships)

 

Format

The Championships consist of five separate team events contested in Four-Ball Stroke Play format over 54 holes at PGA National Resort & Spa – Champion Course, 18 holes each day on Thursday, October 10th, Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th (2019) competed for by teams as follows:

 

Ramon Baez Trophy - Teams selected by the national golf organizations which are members of CGA consisting of two amateur male golfers who are thirty-five or older or who will have their thirty-fifth birthday in the calendar year of the championships.

 

Francis & Steele-Perkins Cup - Teams selected by the national golf organizations which are members of CGA consisting of two amateur male golfers who are fifty or older or who will have their fiftieth birthday in the calendar year of the championships.

 

Higgs & Higgs Trophy - Teams selected by the national golf organizations which are members of CGA consisting of two amateur male golfers who are sixty or older or who will have their sixtieth birthday in the calendar year of the championships.

 

Maria Nunes Trophy - Teams selected by the national golf organizations which are members of CGA consisting of two amateur female golfers who are thirty or older or who will have their thirtieth birthday in the calendar year of the championships.

 

Dessie Henry Trophy - Teams selected by the national golf organizations which are members of CGA consisting of two amateur female golfers who are fifty or older or who will have their fiftieth birthday in the calendar year of the championships.

 

In each case the lowest aggregate score over the competition will determine the winning team.

 

Ambrose Gouthro Cup - An award of an overall trophy will be made to the country which has the most points accumulated in all the divisions.  In each of the championships, the team will be awarded points based upon the daily ranking of its aggregate counting scores, as follows:

               

Ranking 1st - Points equal to the number of teams competing plus one

Ranking 2nd - Two points less than the leader

Ranking 3rd - Three points less than the leader

Ranking 4th - Four points less than the leader

 

and so on, until the last competing team which will be awarded 1 point.  Teams tying will all be awarded the points for their ranking. The team with the most points in aggregate will win the trophy.

 

Substitution

Player substitution can only be made in any team up to that team’s first starting time in the first round for that competition.

 

Rounds

Each of the championships shall be over 54 holes (3 rounds); however, should circumstances make it impossible to complete 54 holes, a championship may be determined by the results of 36 holes but on no account less.  All competitions shall be competed for over the PGA National’s - Champion Course.

 

Tees

Ramon Baez Trophy - Gold markers

Francis and Steele-Perkins Cup - Blue markers

Higgs and Higgs Trophy - White markers

Maria Nunes - Green markers

Dessie Henry - Red markers

 

Ties

In the event of a tie for any cup it shall be held equally.

 

Transportation

Players must ride at all times.

 

Drop Zones

Holes #5, #15 and #17. Defined by white lines.

 

Doubt as to Procedure - Rule 20.1c(3)

If any question arises as to The Rules during play, it is recommended that a player proceed under Rule 20.1c(3), Doubt as to Procedure. A Player must announce play of a second ball, select the one to count, hole out with both balls, and report to the Rules Committee.

 

Caddies

The use of caddies is prohibited.

 

Advice

Each country may appoint one person to be the Team Captain who may give advice to members of that team only. The Captain must always remain off the putting green and must discontinue any advice once the player’s ball lies on the putting green.  The Captain shall be identified to the Committee before giving advice and shall always display his or her badge.   Any substitution of the Captain must be notified to the Committee.  The Captain is considered a member of the team and not an outside agency.  During a stipulated round, for any breach of a Rule by the Captain, the side involved incurs the applicable penalty.

 

Scoring Area

PGA National Resort’s - Main Leaderboard. A player’s score card is returned when it has been given to the scoring official and the player has left the gazebo.
