117th Western Pennsylvania Amateur Championship

The competition is 54 holes of stroke play with a field of 78 players determined via qualifying rounds and exemptions.

Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. The field is 78 contestants.  Format of play is fifty-four (54) holes of stroke play with a cut to the top thirty-two (32) scores and ties after thirty-six (36) holes. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee. Please note the enclosed starting times and groupings, this information can be found at wpga.org as well.  Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Monday, June 26 – Rounds One & Two (36 Holes of Stroke Play)

Cut to top 32 & ties after 36 holes

Tuesday, June 27 – Round Three (18 Holes of Stroke Play)

 

WPGA HARD CARD

 

Practice—Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 814-255-3106. The Golf Professional is Carl Seelman. Arrangements must be made in advance and are at a rate of $75 with or without a cart. Players who wish to play a practice round should schedule their practice round as early as possible.  Additionally, a block of practice rounds will be available on Sunday, June 25.  The practice range will open at roughly 6:45 AM the morning of the competition proper. All practice round fees are the responsibility of the player.

 

Tee Markers—All play is from the WPGA tee markers.  The course will play roughly 6,800 yards, par 70 depending on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round.
 

Transportation/Caddies—Walking is required for all phases of the championship, including qualifying rounds. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties.  Sunnehanna does offer caddies and they must be arranged in advance by contacting the golf shop at 814-255-3106. Caddies will not be available on site the morning of the competition.  Caddie expenses are the responsibility of the player.  Push carts are permitted for the competition.
 

Lodging—Holiday Inn Johnstown-Downtown is offering a competitor lodging rate of $99 including for the evening of Sunday, June 25 and Monday, June 26.  Book by phone, dial 814-535-7777 to speak with a reservations agent.  Participants should reference ‘WPGA Amateur Championship’ to receive the discounted rate.  Room & rate are guaranteed until Sunday, June 18 for the night of June 25.  Rate is guaranteed based on availability for the night of June 26 until the night before, June 25.  Contestants who wish to stay at the hotel are encouraged to make arrangements as soon as possible in order to ensure availability.
 

Food—The WPGA provides water on course, coffee & juices prior to rounds one and three. Lunch will be provided after rounds 1 & 3 for players only. Caddies may purchase lunch at their own expense.  All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
 

Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
 

Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
 

Spectator Info— No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability.  Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense.
