This correspondence will verify your entry into the 109th Michigan Amateur Qualifying at Forest Akers GC - West on Saturday, June 6, 2020.  

INFORMATION

TOURNAMENT DATE: Saturday, June 6, 2020

TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter. Players must not be in or around the clubhouse, or on any on-site practice area more than 40 minutes before their tee time. We recommend players wait in their vehicle until that time.


DIRECTIONS:  Take I-96 to 127 N to the Trowbridge Rd. exit off 127/496. Turn right on Harrison Rd. The course entrance is just past Mt. Hope Rd. (about 1 mile) on the left side.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (517) 355-1635.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Amateur Qualifying contestants. 

GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

GPS & RANGE FINDERS: The following Rule applies to players and caddies. In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

 

GOLF GENIUS APP: Scorekeeping will be done via smartphone and the free Golf Genius app. Please download it if you have not already. Your Golf Genius ID for this round should be included in the e-mail and text with your tee time. You do not need to login until the round begins. If you do not have a smartphone, please let us know so we can be sure you are paired with someone that does.

STATE AMATEUR RESIDENCY: To be eligible to play in the Michigan Amateur Championship and its qualifiers, a player must meet the GAM Residency Criteria. A player is responsible for reviewing and confirming compliance with the criteria. If you feel your Michigan residency may be in question, please contact the GAM. To guarantee a thorough review, contact the GAM at least two weeks prior to the entry deadline. In the event a residency question is presented later than that time, the GAM reserves the right to remove a player from the field at any time.

CADDIES/CARTS:  All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag or bring their own caddie. Caddies must also walk. Caddies must follow all social-distancing guidelines in relation to other players and caddies. Pull carts may be used if the host club allows them. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only. Social-distancing guidelines must be followed in the practice areas. No caddies, spectators, or coaches will be allowed on any other practice area. Players must not be on any practice areas more than 40 minutes prior to their tee time. The Driving Range is located on the East Course, off of Harrison Rd. Players are responsible for transportation from the driving range to the first tee.

PLAYOFF:  In case of ties, there will be a playoff immediately following play for the final spot as well as the order for the two (2) alternate positions. If possible, players should leave the course once the scoring process is complete. If you think you might be in a playoff, we ask that you wait in your vehicle. We will text players for a playoff.

WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing tournaments@emailgam.org. If you are feeling sick, or know you have been exposed to the virus, you MUST stay home. This applies to players, caddies, spectators, GAM Staff, and volunteers.
