TOURNAMENT DATE: Monday, June 22nd – Friday, June 26th

 

STARTING TIMES: All contestants will start on the 1st and 10th holes and the playing order will be reversed for the second round.  These tee times will not be changed for any reason. The GAM will not honor any requests for special times.  Players need to be on their designated tee at least ten minutes prior to their start time.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:  Contestants are entitled to two complimentary practice rounds on Saturday, June 20 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 21, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Call the pro shop at (231) 526-3029 to make these tee times. These times are set aside for tournament players only.  If a player violates this policy, he may lose his spot in the Championship.  Players will be allowed to play any time subject to availability.  Players must call in advance for tee times.  If a player would like to play an additional practice round outside of the complimentary two, he can do so at a rate of $100. Practice facilities will open at noon on Saturday, June 20 and at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 21. The practice facilities will close at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tee times will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you do not have a full group, you will be paired with other players. The 10th tee must be cleared approximately 2 hours following closure of 1st tee on Saturday and Sunday for maintenance purposes. Carts are not available on either June 20 or June 21.  Players may carry their own bag during the practice round or bring their own caddie. Push carts may be used, but motorized carts are not permitted.

Note: In order to preserve the condition of the golf course, we request that players only play one ball and refrain from playing numerous approach shots or tee shots on par 3’s during your practice rounds. Violation of this may result in forfeiture of your position in the field.

REGISTRATION:  Registration will be outside of the Heather Pro Shop from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 21.  All players MUST register in person or contact the GAM Office by Friday, June 19 and notify the office of their arrival time.  A player who has not registered on Saturday/Sunday and is arriving on Monday must check in 30 minutes prior to his scheduled tee time at the registration area in the pro shop. Any player who fails to register or notify the GAM of his late arrival may forfeit his spot in the championship field.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY:  The GAM has a specific pace of play policy in place.  This policy will be in effect for the Championship rounds.  Enclosed you will find a copy of the policy.  If you are unfamiliar with this policy, we strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with the policy before teeing it up at Boyne Highlands Resort - Heather.

ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER PRIOR TO THEIR PRACTICE ROUND

 

PRACTICE RANGE: Full range facilities will be available at Boyne Highlands Resort starting the afternoon of Saturday, June 20.  The range will open daily one hour prior to the first tee times.  The schedule will be 6:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday and 7:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.  Practice facilities will close at 7:00 p.m. on all tournament days except Tuesday, when it will remain open until 8:00 p.m.  

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE: Water will be available for PLAYERS ONLY on the 1st and 10th tees each day. All snack shops on the Boyne Highlands golf facility will take cash. In lieu of a player lunch on one of the first two days of the tournament, all players will receive a $25 voucher to the snack shops.

 

SHOE SPIKE POLICY: All contestants MUST comply with the Shoe Spike Policy stipulated on the entry form and the Tournament Policies and Procedures.  This is a condition of the competition. Any player failing to comply with this condition will be DISQUALIFIED from the Championship.

 

CADDIES FOR TOURNAMENT ROUNDS: Players may carry their own bag, bring their own caddie, or use a push or pull cart.  

 

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: The following Rule applies to players and caddies. In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

 

DRESS CODE: Proper dress for the 2020 Michigan Amateur includes golf slacks, Bermuda-length shorts, collared golf shirt and approved non-metal spike shoes. Blue jeans, denim jeans, denim shorts, tennis shorts, tee shirts are not permitted. Players who fail to comply with this code will be asked to change or will not be permitted to compete. Women’s dress code includes tops that have either a collar or sleeves. Women are not allowed to wear a collar-less, sleeve-less top.

 

WITHDRAWAL:  If a player must withdraw, please contact the GAM office promptly at tournamententry@gam.org or by phone at (248) 478-9242. If notifying after business hours, please send an e-mail and leave a message on voice mailbox 124.  Please indicate your tee time and tee assignment. We have a list of alternates that would like to play. Any player who fails to notify the GAM of his withdrawal is subject to suspension from future events, including the 2021 Michigan Amateur Championship.

Wednesday, June 24 – 1st & 2nd Rounds, Match Play (64 Qualifiers), 7:15 a.m. matches start off No. 1 Tee Only;

Thursday, June 25 – 3rd Round, Quarterfinals, Match Play, Tee times start at 8 a.m.

Friday, June 26 – Semifinals and Finals, Match Play, Tee times start at 8 a.m.
