Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs

Greetings to the Caribbean Golf Association (CGA) and the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association (TTGA) on hosting 2017 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship (CAJGC) from July 3rd to 6th, 2017 at the St. Andrews Golf Club.

It is a momentous achievement to host the thirtieth CAJGC, as the longevity of this tournament is indicative of the CGA unwavering commitment to the growth of the sport in the Caribbean. This year T&T is pleased to host this tournament and the TTGA is steadfast in its dedication to promoting the sport both at the national, regional and international level has contributed to golf a mainstay in our sporting culture.

As Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, I welcome such youth tournaments as this demonstrates a paradigm shift from sports traditionally played by seniors, to one which is more inclusive to juniors. Furthermore, the opportunity afforded to junior golfers between the ages of 10 to 18 years from across the region to perform and compete in a reginal tournament will give them much needed exposure. This makes for more all-rounded youth who are talented, self-confident, and strategic thinkers.

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago wishes the TTGA a successful tournament. Good luck to all junior golfers and to all those visiting Trinidad and Tobago for this event, do enjoy your stay with us!
