This correspondence will verify your entry for the 104th Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship at Forest Akers GC on Sunday, July 18 through Wednesday, July 22, 2020.  

You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

TOURNAMENT DATE: Sunday, July 18 – Wednesday, July 22 

DIRECTIONS: Take I-96 to 127 N to the Trowbridge Rd. exit off 127/496. Turn right on Harrison Rd. The course entrance is just past Mt. Hope Rd. (about 1 mile) on the left side..

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (517) 355-1635.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Women’s Amateur contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: The following Rule applies to players. In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

STATE AMATEUR RESIDENCY: To be eligible to play in the Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship a player must meet the GAM Residency Criteria. A player is responsible for reviewing and confirming compliance with the criteria. If you feel your Michigan residency may be in question, please contact the GAM. To guarantee a thorough review, contact the GAM at least two weeks prior to the entry deadline. In the event a residency question is presented later than that time, the GAM reserves the right to remove a player from the field at any time.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Lunch will be provided for the players following one of the stroke-play rounds.

CADDIES/CARTS:  All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag, use a push cart, or use a caddy. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Range will open one hour before the first tee time. 

WITHDRAWAL:  If you have to withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing tournamententry@gam.org. If you must withdraw within 24 hours of the competition, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242 ext. 124. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.

SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Monday) are requested to attend the Sweet Sixteen Dinner in their honor on Monday, July 20, 2020, at Forest Akers GC - West. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m. All Michigan Woman Amateur contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Players are entitled to one guest and all other guests will be charged a fee of $25 per person. Any player who advances to the Sweet 16 will be a guest of the GAM.  Dressy attire!!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

STROKE PLAY – 36-hole stroke-play qualifying to determine 32 players for match play.  

Saturday, July 18 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play.

Sunday, July 19 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play.  Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a
sudden-death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. 

MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used.  The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won. 

Monday, July 20: Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 10:15 a.m.

Tuesday, July 21

AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 9:10 a.m.
PM – Round of 8, 18 holes

Wednesday, July 22

AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. 
PM – Final Match, 18 holes starting between 12:30-1:00 p.m.
