This correspondence will verify your entry into the 12th GAM Senor Match Play Championship at Stoatin Brae on Monday, June 1st – Thursday, June 4th.  

INFORMATION

TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter. Players must not be in or around the clubhouse, or on any on-site practice area more than 40 minutes before their tee time. We recommend players wait in their vehicle until that time. On match play days, players must not gather in groups between rounds and maintain proper social distance.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-94 to Exit 95 (Helmer Road Exit). Take Helmer Road North until it tees into Dickman Road. Left on Dickman to the next light (a short jog). Drive 3.2 miles then take a right at Clark Rd. Continue onto Custer Drive for .8 miles. Turn let onto Michigan Avenue and continue straight for about 3 miles. Stoatin Brae will be on your right. If you hit 44th street you have gone too far.

Format:

Monday, June 1 – 18 holes, stroke play; the low 32 Senior Players qualify for Match Play & Low 16 Super Senior Players qualify for Super Senior Match Play Division. A food voucher will be provided to all players. The Super Senior Division and a select number of Senior Division players will be in the morning wave. The remaining Senior Division players will be in the afternoon wave.

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.
The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Tuesday, June 2: Morning – 16 Matches for Senior Division & 8 Matches for Super Senior Division
Tuesday, June 2: Afternoon – 8 Matches for Senior Division
Wednesday, June 3: Morning – 4 Matches for each Division
Wednesday, June 3: Afternoon – 2 Semifinal Matches for each Division
Thursday, June 4: Morning – Final Match for each Division

LODGING: Gull Lake View Resort, 844.207.8493. The group name is “GAM”. These are cottages so we encourage rooming with other players if traveling alone.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (269) 220-3976.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Senior Match Play contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Players will be given a
boxed lunch from the halfway house on the first day of the tournament.

CADDIES/CARTS: Caddies are not allowed at any point during this Championship. Automotive transportation is mandatory in this championship. Players will be riding in single carts. NOTE: Only competitors may ride in the players’ carts. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only. Players must not be on the driving range, putting green, or in and around the clubhouse more than 40 minutes prior to their tee time. On match play days, players must not gather between rounds.

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spot(s) in either match-play bracket, a sudden death playoff will begin immediately after all stroke-play results are posted. A playoff for final spot(s) in the Super Senior Division will take place after all scores are posted in that division during the morning wave.

 

GOLF GENIUS APP: Scorekeeping for stoke and match play will be done via smartphone and the free Golf Genius app. Please download it if you have not already. Your Golf Genius ID for this round should be included in the e-mail and text with your tee time. You do not need to login until the round begins. If you do not have a smartphone, please let us know so we can be sure you are paired with someone that does.

WITHDRAWAL:  If you must withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing tournaments@emailgam.org. If you are feeling sick, or know you have been exposed to the virus, you MUST stay home. This applies to players, caddies, spectators, GAM Staff, and volunteers.
