Player Information: U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying

Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Grove City Country Club in Grove City, PA

 

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Grove City Country Club in Grove City, PA.  The qualifying round is 36 holes and the field is 74 players. The number of spots the field is playing for is two (2) and two (2) alternates. Please note the attached starting times and pairings, additionally starting times can be found at wpga.org in the near future.  The starting tees will be holes #1 and #10. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.  

 

Format—36 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.  In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

 

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.

Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

USGA HARD CARD

 

Tee Markers—All play is from the USGA tee markers.  The course will play par 72 at roughly 6,750 yards depending on conditions.

 

Practice Practice rounds are available at select times between July 10th and 17th by contacting the golf shop at 724-748-3493. Practice rounds will be at a cost of $40 to walk and $60 to ride.  Practice rounds must be made in advance and all practice round times are at the discretion of the golf shop. The golf professional is Dave Altemus. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

 

Lodging—Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Grove City area.

 

Transportation/Caddies— Walking is required.  Players may bring their own caddies.  Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.  A limited number of caddies may be available by contacting the club in advance.  Players and caddies are permitted to use push trolleys for the qualifying round.

 

Food—The WPGA provides a light continental breakfast prior to the round and water on the course. All other food

and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. An optional lunch, at the player’s expense will be available between rounds one and two.

 

Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time for the stipulated round will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20).

 

Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Evacuation Plan— In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, Players on holes #1,2(tee),9(fairway/green),10(tee/fairway),11(green) & 18(fairway/green) should return immediately to the Clubhouse.  Players on holes # 7(fairway/green),8(tee/fairway),16(fairway/green) & 17(tee/fairway) should go to the pool area left of #18 fairway.  Players on holes #8(green),9(tee),10(green),11(tee),12,13,14,15 & 16(tee) should proceed to the Rain Shelter between #14 & 15 fairway.  Players on holes # 2(fairway/green),3 & 4(tee/fairway) should proceed to the Rain Shelter near #4 tee. Players on holes # 4(green),5,6,7(tee/fairway),17(fairway/green) & 18(tee) should proceed to the Rain Shelter near #5 tee. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note or by the club’s electronic system. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Spectator Info— No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability.  Spectators may purchase lunches via cash or credit card.
