This correspondence will verify your entry into the 22nd GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Country Club of Lansing on Monday – Tuesday, June 8-9, 2020.  

INFORMATION

TOURNAMENT DATE: Monday, June 8 – Tuesday, June 9

TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter. Players must not be in or around the clubhouse, or on any on-site practice area more than 40 minutes before their tee time. We recommend players wait in their vehicle until that time.

SECOND-ROUND PAIRINGS:  Second-round pairings will be available via www.gam.org and will be sent through e-mail and text.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-96 to 127 N to 496 W towards downtown Lansing. Take Exit 5 (Martin Luther King), go through the first light (northbound through MLK) to the second light (southbound MLK). Turn L, go over bridge, first street past bridge take a R (Moores River Dr.) stay R through the roundabout.  The club will be ¾ mile past the roundabout on your left.

LODGING: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lansing-Dimondale, 9490 Woodlane Drive, Dimondale, MI 48821. 517-646-7000. The block is under “Golf Association of Michigan” and the rate is $99/night plus tax.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (517) 318-5219. Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

 

GOLF GENIUS APP: Scorekeeping will be done via smartphone and the free Golf Genius app. Please download it if you have not already. Your Golf Genius ID for this round should be included in the e-mail and text with your tee time. You do not need to login until the round begins. If you do not have a smartphone, please let us know so we can be sure you are paired with someone that does.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Players will be able to get complimentary food and non-alcoholic beverages from the Stand Six Halfway House on both days of the competition. More info will be provided at a later date.

CADDIES/CARTS: Caddies are not permitted in this Championship. The Mid-Amateur Division will have the option of using a cart or walking. The 19-24 Division will be mandatory walking. The Senior Division will be mandatory riding in single carts. NOTE: Only competitors may ride in the players’ carts. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only. Social-distancing guidelines must be followed in the practice areas. No spectators, parents, or coaches will be allowed on any practice area. Players must not be on any practice areas more than 40 minutes prior to their tee time.

HANDICAP PROCEDURE: In divisions where Net prizes are awarded, per World Handicap System recommendations, players will receive 95% of their course handicap for this tournament. Handicap Indexes will be established when entries close and will not be altered during the tournament.

PLAYOFF: A tie for the Mid-Amateur Championship and 19-24 Division will be determined by a sudden-death playoff immediately after the final scores have been posted.  All other ties will be decided by the card matching method recommended by the USGA. It is the player’s responsibility to be ready to play when called to the tee.

PRIZES: The overall low gross scorer in the Mid-Amateur Division will have her name engraved on the Jeanne L. Myers Trophy. The 19-24 Division will award a prize for low gross ONLY. All other divisions/flights must have at least 7 participants for a low net prize to be awarded in addition to a low gross prize.

WITHDRAWAL:  If you must withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing tournaments@emailgam.org. If you are feeling sick, or know you have been exposed to the virus, you MUST stay home. This applies to players, caddies, spectators, GAM Staff, and volunteers.
