2020 New England Senior Amateur Championship

Format: Competition will be in two (2) stages at Stroke Play:
1. Sectional Qualifying (18 holes)
2. Championship Proper (36 holes)

*Note: Competitors are only permitted to compete in one Sectional Qualifier for the Championship. 

 

Eligibility: Entries are open to amateur golfers who hold membership in a club belonging to one of the six New England State Golf Associations and have an up-to-date USGA/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0.
 
Entry Procedures: Entries and fully paid entry fees must be received through the NEGA Online Entry process by 5:00 pm EST on the published entry deadline. Entries Close: Thursday, July 30th at 5:00pm

Field: The Championship Proper field is limited to 120 players.

2020 Exemptions: Upon receipt of the online registration and fee, the players listed on the exemption page are exempt from Sectional Qualifying. Click HERE to view the exemption list.

 

Super Senior Qualifying: At least 20% of the qualifying spots available at a Qualifier must be used by Super Senior Players. For example, if 20 players and ties advance from a qualifier to the Championship Proper, then any player that finishes inside of the top four (and ties) Super Senior players at the qualifier will also advance, regardless of if they are inside of the top 20 Overall. 


Schedule - Championship Proper:
Round 1 - September 15 (18 Holes)
Round 2 - September 16 (18 Holes)
The lowest scorer for 36 holes will be Champion.
If a tie for first place occurs, play will immediately continue hole-by-hole until a winner is determined. If ties for other positions occur, duplicate merchandise certificates will be awarded.
 
Caddies & Automotive Transportation: Players may use caddies during play. A player is not required to employ a caddie for any round of the competition. Players may use automotive transportation during play of the Championship Proper. The cost of the golf cart is included in the player's entry fee. 

The NEGA Cart Policy prohibits the use of more than 2 golf carts in any group during a qualifier or Championship. If more than one player in a group employs a caddy for the round, the caddies may not be permitted to ride in the golf cart. 

Note: Automotive Transportation (golf cart) is also permitted during the play of a qualifier. The cost of the cart is included in the entry fee. 

Food/Beverage: The NEGA will be providing a complimentary luncheon on September 15 for all competitors. Players are responsible for their own cost of food & beverage during a qualifier. 

Starting Times: Qualifying Round Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the close of entries. Championship Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the last qualifying round.

Prizes: Winner will receive the Andrew C. Bailey Trophy, and merchandise certificate. The Super Senior Champion will receive the NEGA Super Senior Trophy and merchandise certificate. Merchandise certificates are only redeemable at the host club.

Inclement Weather/Cancelled Round Stipulation: The NEGA reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.

Restrictions: If the Championship course is declared unplayable and as a result it is not possible to complete the 26 holes of play in the period in which the Championship is scheduled, the Championship will not be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner shall be the individual who returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played. The Committee may institute a cut in order to play the last stipulated round.

Withdrawal/Refund Policy
Competitors, who have submitted an entry for an NEGA event and wish to withdraw for any reason, MUST notify the NEGA office in writing (e-mail is acceptable and encouraged) or by phone. Entry fee will be refunded less a $20 administrative fee, regardless of reason, if the NEGA is notified in writing or by phone seven days prior to each event. Entry fee will be refunded less 50% for any withdrawals received less than seven days prior to each event. No refund will be processed for a withdrawal notification that is received on the scheduled date of an event (Championship or Qualifier).​
