Alternate Information

** THE WPGA WILL CONTACT YOU IMMEDIATELY REGARDING A CHANGE TO YOUR STATUS AS AN ALTERNATE**

Procedure

The alternate replacement procedure used by the WPGA is determined by the status of a player who withdraws at any point prior to starting play in the championship proper.

If a player who earned a position through a Qualifying Site (i.e non-exempt player) withdraws, the 1st Alternate from that same Qualifying Site will be contacted by the WPGA to replace the withdrawn player. If the 1st Alternate declines, the 2nd Alternate from the corresponding location will be contacted. If both decline, the WPGA will repeat the process using the next site on the re-allotment list.

If a player who is fully exempt withdraws, an alternate based on qualifying spot percentages on the re-allotment list will be contacted by the WPGA to replace the withdrawn player. If the Alternate declines, another Alternate will be contacted. if both decline, the WPGA will repeat the process using percentages on the re-allotment list.

The re-allotment list defines the order of qualifying sites used in the processes described above. It is created based on the mathematical difficulty of qualifying (i.e number of players attempting to qualify vs. number of qualifying spots available).

Alternates who have not been added to the field may show up at the championship proper and check in with WPGA Staff upon arrival.  On-site alternates will be added to the field in priority order in the event of a last minute withdraw.

The WPGA will take every step to notify you immediately if your status has changed; it is not necessary to contact the WPGA.
