GENERAL PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

The following details related to the Maine Women’s Amateur are part of the conditions of competition:

 

TEE TIMES FOR THE FIRST DAY OF PLAY HAVE BEEN POSTED IN THE MWA EVENT PORTAL, WHICH YOU RECEIVED VIA EMAIL.

  • Tee times will start at 7:30 am each day.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday tee times will be posted in the MWA event portal as soon as possible after play is completed on Monday and Tuesday.
  • We encourage you to download the Golf Genius app to your Smartphone and access the portal using the GGID for the event, FEWZVV.  Apple Download  Android Dowload
  • It is the player’s responsibility to confirm your assigned starting time daily.

 

Format:  54-hole stroke play championship.  In case of a tie for Champion there will be a sudden death playoff starting on hole #1, then #2, then #3 and so on.  Other division ties will be by matching cards according to USGA recommended procedure:  score for last 9 holes (#10-18), then last 6 holes (#13-18), then last 3 holes (#16-18), then #18.

 

Registration: Please report to the registration table at least 45 minutes before your scheduled starting time on Monday.

 

Time of Starting:  Please report to the Starter’s table 10 minutes before your starting time.  Rule 6-3a provides: “The player shall start at the time laid down by the Committee.”  Penalty for breach of Rule 6-3 is disqualification.

 

Pace of Play (USGA Guidelines):  Rules Officials will monitor the pace of play.  A group may be monitored for compliance with Pace of Play guidelines if it is “out of position”.  Pace of Play information will be provided at the Starter’s table.

 

Dress Code:  Contestants and caddies are required to comply with the dress code.

 

Distance Measuring Devices:  Devices that measure distance only are allowed during this competition.  A multi-functional device, such as a smartphone or PDA, may be used as a distance-measuring device, but it must not be used to gauge or measure other conditions where doing so would be a breach of Rule 14-3.  (See Appendix IV.5 in the Rules of Golf for other restrictions.)  Information from the device is not deemed to be advice and therefore can be shared with other players.

 

Scorecards:  Players must exchange scorecards on the 1st tee.  Proceed directly to the scorer’s table located in the clubhouse lobby after finishing #18.  Check your score for each hole, obtain your marker’s signature, and sign to attest your score before handing in your card.

 

Rules Questions:  There will be rules officials available to answer questions or concerns.

When in doubt as to a procedure, and a rules official is not close by, the player may play two balls in accordance with Rule 3-3. Doubt as to Procedure.

 

Other Details:

 

Practice Facilities:  A practice range is located at Martindale Country Club.  TM Commercial Funding is sponsoring range balls all 3 days of the tournament.  A token is needed to access the range balls, tokens can be picked up in the Pro Shop.

 

Food:  Light breakfast, coffee, and snack items will be available each morning.  An hors d’oeuvres buffet will be served on Wednesday following play in the Banquet Room on the second floor of the clubhouse.  These refreshments are free to players, caddies, and volunteers thanks to our Hospitality Sponsors:  Stroudwater Lodge, Abode Realty, Kristin Kannegieser, and Kate Landry of Fish Bones.

 

Restrooms:  Are available on the first floor of the clubhouse.  Porta potties are located on holes 5 and 14.

 

Drinking Water:  Bottle of water will be available in coolers on the 1st and 10th tee boxes.  Water is also located on hole #5, #12 and in between holes #13 & #14.

 

Presentation of Awards:  Presentation of trophies and awards will be held on Wednesday afternoon at the conclusion of play in the Banquet Room.
