Player Information: U.S. Senior Amateur & Senior Women's Amateur Sectional Qualifying

Please see information related to U.S. Senior Amateur and U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Sectional Qualifying on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at The Club at Nevillewood in Presto, PA. 
The qualifying round is 18 holes and the field is 24 players in the Men's Senior Amateur. The men are playing for one (1) spot in the championship and two (2) alternates. 

The qualifying round is 18 holes and the field is 11 players in the Women's Senior Amateur. The women are playing for three (3) spots in the championship and two (2) alternates.  

Please note the attached starting times and groupings, additionally starting times can be found at wpga.org in the near future.  The starting tee will be hole #1. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.  The practice facility will open at roughly 7:00 AM the day of the qualifying round.

 

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.

Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.
Carts are permitted for the qualifying round.

 

USGA HARD CARD

 

Format—18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.  In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

 

Tee Markers—The Men's course will play par 72 at roughly 6,800 yards from the USGA tee markers (approx. Nevillewood Blue Tee).

                         The Women's course will play par 72 at roughly 5,800 yards from the Green tee markers (approx. Nevillewood Green Tee).

                         Competition yardages are subject to change based on conditions.

 

Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE, a checkpoint system will be in place for the qualifying round.

 

Practice— Please contact the Golf Shop at 724-276-4653 for information regarding a practice round. Practice rounds are available on Tuesday & Thursday after 2:00 PM, based on availability. Other times for practice rounds may be available at the discretion of the golf shop.  Practice rounds will be at a cost of $50 plus cart and fees are the responsibility of the player. The Golf Professional is Jim Antkewicz.  All practice rounds are at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

 

Transportation/Caddies— Carts are permitted for the qualifying round and are at the expense of the player the day of the competition. Players may bring their own caddies.  Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.  Carts are encouraged as Nevillewood has many long walks from green to tee.

 

NOTE: The Club at Nevillewood only accepts cash, American Express and Discover credit cards, Visa and Mastercard are not accepted at the club.

 

Food—The WPGA provides a light continental breakfast prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Lodging—Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Bridgeville area.

 

Evacuation Plan— In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1 & 2 should go to the maintenance building, players on holes 3 & 4 should go to the tunnel between holes 3 & 4, players on holes 5 & 6 should go to the bath house between holes 5 & 6, players on holes 7 & 8 should go to the tunnel near #12 tee box, players on holes 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 & 18 should return the clubhouse, players on holes 13 & 14 should go to the bath house near 14 tee, players on hole 15 should go to the tunnel between 14 & 15.

Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Spectator Info— No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability.  Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense.
