Join us on September 14th!

Fore! Or should we say Nineteen! (as in COVID-19). The 13th Annual Abbey’s Hope Golf Tournament is scheduled for September 14, 2020 at Olympic Hills Golf Club. There is no doubt that this last year has been a crazy and chaotic time, but Abbey’s Hope has continued to do its important water safety work because the need is still so great. Our annual golf tournament gives us the opportunity to bring you up to date on that critical public safety work, showcase our mission, raise some funds to help us serve that mission and, yes, have a little fun after a trying past year.

Although the past year has been an unusual one to say the least, it has also been a busy one. Our award-winning television and radio public service announcement is still one of the most used and viewed water safety educational messages in the country. The PSA first aired in 2016 and has been shown and shared millions of times throughout the country. Despite the PSA’s success, we are not resting on our laurels. Abbey’s Hope is just starting the planning process for a new public service announcement that will address adult distractions by the pool or lake when they should be actively supervising children in the water.

We were busy this past year on other fronts also. Our Foundation still supports both the YMCA and the Minneapolis Parks Board to help provide swim lessons and water safety information to those Minneapolis/St. Paul children who could not otherwise afford it. Over the past decade plus, we have contributed close to $750,000 to these important partners. That generosity is due, in large part, to your support! Abbey’s Hope helped plan and lead the annual drowning prevention conference that serves water safety stakeholders around the world. We were just appointed, as a voting member, to the standard’s development organization that ensures water safety products and toys are safe when they go to market. Abbey’s Hope still advocates regularly in Congress and at the Consumer Product Safety Commission for important water safety legislation and policy. Significantly, we helped the CPSC get its important funding from Congress for Pool Safely Education Campaign and for the compliance efforts required by the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act. Another year has passed and we can still proudly say that since this landmark law’s effective date, not a single child has died in a public pool due to an entrapment. Our daughter Abbey would be so proud and you should be too.

We look forward to seeing you at Olympic Hill on Monday, September 14. As always, this tournament fills up very, very fast so we urge you to register for the event as soon as possible. Please know that all of us at Abbey’s Hope knows that times are different and we will be following all required golf relevant social distancing protocols and restrictions that might be in place this Fall. Your safety is top of mind.

Thank you for your anticipated support. Your commitment to our organization honors Abbey’s blessed memory.

All the best,
