32nd Western Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur Amateur Championship

 

Please find below information related to the 32nd Western Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur Championship on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Green Oaks Country Club in Verona, PA. 

 

The competition is 36 holes of stroke play with a starting field of 78 contestants.  Please note the attached starting times and pairings.  The starting tees will be holes #1 & #10.  Starting times can also be found at WPGA.org prior to the competition.  Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

 

Format—36 Holes of Stroke Play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.


Tee Markers—Play is from the WPGA tee markers.  The course will play approximately 6,450 yards depending on conditions.

 

Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15).  The WPGA Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

 

Practice— Practice rounds are available and must be scheduled in advance by contacting the Golf Shop at 412-793-2200.  Practice rounds are available Tuesday through Thursday at the discretion of the Golf Shop and before 11 AM on Friday.    The Golf Professional is Ed Habjan.  Cost for a practice round is $45 including a cart. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Range balls are included in the entry fee the morning of the competition.

 

Transportation/Caddies— Golf carts are permitted and are included in the entry fee.  Players may bring their own caddies if they choose to walk.

 

Evacuation Plan—In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return immediately to the Clubhouse. 

 

Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Food—The WPGA provides water on the course, coffee, juices and whole fruits prior to the round and a lunch between rounds for the players.  All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Lodging—Lodging can be found in the Harmarville or Monroeville areas in various price ranges. 

 

Spectator Info— No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability.

 

The entry fee includes green fee, cart, coffee and juices, lunch, trophies to the winner and runner-up, merchandise prizes to the top eight (8) scores and ties for the Championship as well as a trophy and pro shop credit to the low senior in field.  The winner of the Championship receives an exemption to the 2018 Amateur & Open Championships.  The top 3 scores and ties will gain exemption to the 2018 Amateur Championship.
