Wee Wonders is 21 this year!
Wee Wonders Started in 1995, the opportunity to develop from the coaching bay to competitive golf has been nurtured and expanded into the Wee Wonders Open Golf Championships with its Regional and Grand Final Format.
The Adidas Wee Wonders Championships is a series of junior golf tournaments that gives boys and girls aged five to twelve years a way to progress from coaching into competitive golf.
There are 4 age categories for boys (5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12) and 3 for girls (5-8, 9-10 and 11-12). The format for the Regional Qualifiers is strokeplay over 9 holes. The winner of each age category in a qualifying event goes through to the Grand Final.
This year Wee Wonders will hold qualifying events at 16 venues across the UK and Ireland and with the Grand Final being held at the legendary St Andrews Links; the “Wee Wonders Open Golf Championships”. Widely regarded as “the British Championships” and a “Junior Major”.
Wee Wonders has a proud history in it 21 years, starting as a Par 3 competition at Foxhills, Surrey progressing onto its current format with regional events and a Grand final.
With fervent supporters such as the PGA, Golf Foundation, enthusiastic ambassadors in Colin Montgomerie & Nick Dougherty and support from Sponsors such as, HSBC, Octagon and this year Adidas, Taylormade & Ashworth, it is no wonder Wee Wonders is such a success.
With the opportunity for winners to play events such as the US Kids European & World Championships So much so that the participants have move on to bigger and better things.
Emerging Golf Professionals Tommy Fleetwood, Walker Cup 2011 player Tyrrel Hatton and the formidable and exciting talents of Northern Irish twins Lisa & Leona Maguire all started out as Wee Wonders champions.
