Local Rules

 

  • U.S.G.A. RULES OF GOLF govern all play.

 

  • OUT OF BOUNDS is defined by the line between the course-side points at ground level of white stakes and fence posts. When both stakes and lines are used to define out of bounds, stakes identify the out of bounds and lines define the margins. When two out of bounds stakes coincide, out of bounds is deemed to extend indefinitely. Proceed under Rule 12.2b.

 

 

  • PENALTY AREAS are defined by red stakes or red lines. When both stakes and lines are used to define penalty areas. Stakes identify penalty areas and lines define margins. When a penalty area is defined on only one side, it is deemed to extend indefinitely. When penalty areas are bounded by out of bounds, the penalty area margin extends to and coincides with the out of bounds line. Proceed under Rule 17.1.

 

  • GROUND UNDER REPAIR is defined by white lines. Relief without penalty may be taken as provided in Rule 16.1. White-lined areas of ground under repair and artificially surfaced roads and path they tie into are treated as a single abnormal course conditions when taking relief under Rule 16.1.

 

 

  • TREE ROOTS – If a player’s ball is at rest in a portion of the general area cut to fairway height or less and there is interference from exposed tree roots that are in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less the tree roots are treated as ground under repair. The Player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.

 

  • OBSTRUCTIONS – All artificially surfaced roads & paths, such as asphalt, concrete, or gravel roads and paths (including worn areas around such roads and paths that are a result of car usage) are immovable obstructions. All flood pumps, culverts, and French drains are immovable obstructions. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1.

 

 

  • FLOWER BEDS AND LANDSCAPING – The flower bed next to #5 tee and landscaping around the clubhouse are no play zones that are to be treated abnormal course conditions. Free relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone under Rule 16.1f.

 

  • YARDAGE MARKERS – All yardages are measured to the middle of the greens. Red plate 100 yards, White/Black stick 150 yards and Blue plate 200 yards. Yards plates are immovable obstructions. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1.
