Men's Golf League at Longbow

 

We are excited to begin another year. Our goal is to create a fun, friendly and competitive environment in which golfers of all abilities can compete.

 

Membership Fees for 2021

 

Golf League membership fees for 2021 are $125.00/$130.00. Membership fees are placed into the 2021 Men's Golf League holding account and will be used for participation in the USGA GHIN handicap system, USGA Tournament Management Software powered by Golf Genius, prize funds, special events and other operational costs that may arise throughout the year.

 

In addition to the Men’s Golf League membership fees, each member must purchase a 2021 Longbow Flight Card. Returning members may use credit book money for the purchase of the Flight Card.  Longbow Golf Club will offer the opportunity for players to register online at lon-mgl2021.golfgenius.com.  If you have not yet purchased your 2021 flight Card, you may do so as an add on to your MGL 2021 Membership registration.

 

Tournament Information

 

The Men’s Golf League has on average two tournaments per month. Formats for the tournaments vary. A schedule of tournaments has been attached. The dates for the tournaments likely won't be modified, but the formats may be changed from time to time. At the request of the members, please note that we have added some afternoon tee times during the high demand months and a few shotgun starts during the summer months.

 

Tournament entry fee is $20 per person which is applied to the prize fund. In addition, each entrant shall pay the posted green fee which is shown on the 2021 Men’s Golf League Tournament schedule.

 

The Men’s Golf League Championship will be held in September 2021 and will be a two-day tournament. Men’s Golf League members must participate in at least five (5) individual scoring tournament events prior to the Men’s Golf League Championship to be eligible.

 

Scoring: The Men's Golf League will be using the USGA GHIN handicap system to determine tournament handicaps.

 

Signup Policy: Deadline for tournament entry is 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the tournament start date. Sign-ups will only be accepted thru the USGA Tournament Management software. Each Men’s Golf League member will receive an email from Longbow Golf Club prior to each tournament and will be able to respond directly from the email as to whether they will be participating in the upcoming tournament.

 

Tee Time/Pairing Policy: All tee times and hole assignments (shotgun starts} will be determined by the tournament director and/or Longbow Golf Club staff members. Men’s Golf League members may request to play with one other member only.

 

Tournament Scoring and Results: The MGL will use the USGA Tournament Software powered by Golf Genius combined with the WHS for tournaments during the 2021 season. This software system coincides with USGA guidelines regarding scoring. Official tournament results using the USGA preferred tie breaking method will be posted no later than the Tuesday following the tournament, this includes skin results. However, since the Men’s Golf League is utilizing the Golf Genius App for real time scoring at each event, unofficial results will likely be known on the day of the event.

 

Tournament Tees: Beginning with the first tournament in 2021, all Men’s Golf League members will be playing from the Green White combo tees. The one exception is for female members of the Men’s Golf League. Female members may play from the Red tees.

 

Tournament Flights/Payouts: The number of flights and the number of payouts will be determined based upon the number of entrants in each tournament. Flights will be split as evenly as possible. Payouts will be equal per flight.  The formation of flights will be tied to levels of participation as follows:

 

0 – 17 players       1 Flight

18 – 35 players    2 Flights

36 – 48 players    3 Flights

49 – 68 players    4 Flights

69+ players          5 Flights

 

 

Tournament winnings will be paid as money on account in the player’s credit book. The credit book money may be used to purchase merchandise in the Golf Shop, either in stock or special order.  The credit book money may also be used to purchase food or beverage at The Grille at Longbow Golf Club.

 

Skins: At most tournaments, there will be an optional skins pot. Entry into the pot will be $20. In addition, most tournaments will continue to have two closest to hole skill contests at a $5 optional buy-in.

 

Friday Night Skins: Most Friday afternoons, the Men’s Golf League hosts a skins game competition (9 holes) open to all Men’s Golf League members in good standing. In order to participate in the Friday Night Skins game, a member must participate in at least one tournament each quarter. Additionally, each member will play from the green/white combo tees during the skins game. In the Friday Night Skins game, no participant will be allowed in excess of 1 handicap stroke per hole. Players will establish their playing groups themselves. Starting time on Fridays will be between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. depending on the time of year.
