Additional Local Rules

 

The following are additional local rules which are specific to Forbes Golf Club for the 2021 NSW Country Championship and should be read in conjunction with the Golf NSW Hardcard.

 

 

Preferred Lie

When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:

  • Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
  • Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 30cm from the reference point, but with these limits:
  • Limits on Location of Relief Area:
    • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
    • Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

 

Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions) (Rule 16)

  • Trenches (sand-filled or otherwise) within four club-lengths of closely mown parts of the general area
  • Bare patches on putting greens

 

Power lines

  • If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line or tower or a wire or pole supporting a power line, the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6 for what to do).

 

Exposed Tree Roots

  • If a player’s ball is at rest in a portion of the general area cut to fairway height or less and there is interference from exposed tree roots that are in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the tree roots are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.
  • But interference does not exist if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance. [Delete if not required.]

 

Sprinkler head on greens

  • When a players ball lies on the putting green and there is interference from an immovable obstruction the player is entitled to free relief under Rule 16.1d

 

Yellow Penalty Area 9th, 10th & 15th Holes

  • The bridge across the yellow penalty area on holes 9, 10 & 15 are part of the Penalty Area

 

Gates in Boundary Fences

  • A gate for getting through a boundary wall or fence is not part of the boundary object. Such a gate is an obstruction
