THE GERALD MICKLEM CUP
FRIDAY 17TH – SATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2021
This tournament is held in honour of our Past President, Gerald Micklem, and is open to male amateur golfers over the age of 35. Previously a 36 hole event, from 2021 the event will be made into 54 holes to qualify as a World Amateur Golf Ranking event.
TERMS OF COMPETITION
- The competition will be 54 hole scratch medal over the New Course with 36 holes on the Friday followed by a cut for the top 30 and ties to play on Saturday morning.
- The winner will be the player with the lowest aggregate score. In the event of any tie there will be a sudden death playoff on the Saturday afternoon (1st & 18th holes).
- Playing partners and tee off times will be allotted by the Club. All players will start one round from the 11th tee.
- Riding in motorised carts is not allowed.
- Players will be provided with a buffet lunch.
- A practice round is available after 3pm on Thursday 16th September after 3.00pm. No practice rounds or practice at the club will be permitted before this time. Tee times must be booked through the Caddiemaster.
ENTRY DETAILS
- Entries will be accepted only from male Amateur golfers whose handicap index does not exceed 5.4 under the WHS.
- Players must have reached the age of 35 before 13th August 2021. (Age 50 for Prestige Bowl.)
- In the event of applications exceeding 60 the higher handicap players will be balloted out immediately after the closing date.
- Entries open via Golf Genius on Monday 5th April and close on Friday 13th August 2021. The entry fee is £125.00.
- The Committee reserves the right to accept or refuse or subsequently reject any entry without giving reasons for its decision.
RESULTS
- The winner will hold the title for one year and his name will be updated on the honour board along with engraved on the Gerald Micklem Cup which will be retained by the Club.
- The winner will receive an engraved Armada dish.
- Vouchers will be given to players in the first six places.
- The Prestige Bowl will be awarded to the player over the age of 50 with lowest aggregate score. His name will be engraved on the plinth and he receives an engraved Armada dish
- No player to win more than one prize.
WAGR
The Gerald Micklem Cup as of 2021 will be a WAGR event. More information on this will made none to players nearer the event.
