UPDATED FEBRUARY 2022
The Handicap Chairman within the golf club is responsible for all aspects of the USGA Handicap System, including verifying the computation of each member’s Handicap Index.
LMGC Handicap Chairman for 2022: Craig Tagler
Reminder: Your handicap if calculated based off of the lowest 8 differentials out the last 20 rounds recorded. This value is calculated and updated daily. Any new entries will be reflected in your handicap index the following day.
Exceptional Rounds: Any score 7.0 to 9.9 strokes better than your index results in an automatic and immediate 1.0 deduction from your 20 previous differentials (essentially reducing your index by 1 stoke immediately). Any score 10 or more strokes better than your index results in an automatic and immediate 2.0 stroke reduction.
LMGC has set forth the following policies and procedures for all members using the USGA Handicap System.
- Post all acceptable rounds, including 9 hole scores to GHIN on the date played.
- Equitable Stroke Control must be applied to all scores for posting purposes
- Net Double Par is the highest allowed score
- Contact the Handicap Chairman for any changes needed to an entry.
Postable Scores (The Tournament Committee posts for you at all LMGC monthly events)
- Any round in which you ‘play your own ball’ for the entire round should be posted
- Any match play, stroke play and team competitions
- If 13 or more holes are played in an 18 hole round - Post an 18 hole score (unplayed holes scored at “Par +” aka “Net Par”.
- If 7 to 12 holes are played for a 9 hole round (Post a 9 hole score – unplayed holes scored at “Par +”).
- If a player is requested to pick up when out of contention, including team competitions
- If a player is disqualified from a competition but has an acceptable score it must be posted
LMGC MATCH PLAY RULES (President’s Cup)
- All LMGC Match Play rounds must be posted as a “Tournament” round.
- Conceded shots (you started the hole but didn’t finish): Record the score you most likely would have gotten had you completed the hole (use your best judgment and inform your opponent what you intend to record).
- Unplayed holes: Post “Par +” aka “Net Par”
- Holes played after completion of match: Maximum score is “Par +”.
(Record what you get as long it is “Par +” or lower).
A player must earn a Handicap Index. No player has an inherent right to a Handicap Index without providing full evidence of ability to our golf club’s Handicap Committee. The Handicap Committee has the ultimate authority and obligation to adjust a Handicap Index if it feels necessary to do so.
Please direct any questions or concerns to Craig Tagler, handicap chair via email or text.
