The Home Course men's Golf Club Pace of Play Policy

Rule 5-6b Prompt Pace of Play: “A round of golf is meant to be played at a prompt pace. Each player should recognize that his or her pace of play is likely to affect how long it will take other players to play their rounds, including those in the player's group and those in following groups.”

Summary

Pace of Play Checkpoints will be located at the greens of the 5th, 9th, 13th, and 18th holes. Pace of Play monitors will display either a Green or Red Card once your group walks off that green which reflects whether your group is either "In Position (Green Card)" or "Out of Position (Red Card)."

Green Card (In Position)

Your group finished the checkpoint hole less than 10 minutes after the group in front of your group or reached the checkpoint hole before the expected time to finish listed on the scorecard. Thank you for the effort and please maintain your position on the golf course.

Red Card (Out of Position)

Your group finished on a checkpoint hole more than 10 minutes after the group in front of you and has exceeded the time to finish that checkpoint hole listed on the scorecard. When a group receives a Red Card, that group must regain position. When a group is out of position a member of the Committee will be notified that a group is out of position. When a group is out of position (Defined above) at any checkpoint, the players in the group are liable to penalty according to the following schedule of penalties pending final determination of whether a breach or breaches of this policy have occurred. The expected time to finish each hole is included on every scorecard issued to the competitors in the competition:

· 1st Red Card - Warning

· 2nd Red Card - Liable to a one-stroke penalty

· 3rd Red Card - Liable to a two-stroke penalty

· 4th Red Card - Liable to disqualification

Notwithstanding the determination at designated checkpoint holes, a group out of position may be assessed a penalty stroke for excessive delay regardless of never having received a red card at a checkpoint as determined by the Committee.

Final Determination Regarding Breach / Review Process

Upon returning his scorecard at the completion of competition, a player who was out of position during his round may consult with the Committee to determine if he has incurred a penalty under this policy. The Committee may determine that a player who has been found to be out of position is not in breach of this policy only if:

1. The player was delayed by the Committee.

2. The player was delayed by a circumstance beyond the control of the player or the group.

3. The player was delayed by another player in the group.

A player who was out of position during his round and who elects not to consult with the Committee to determine whether he was in breach of this policy is considered to have been in breach of the Pace of Play Policy and to have incurred a penalty or penalties according to the above schedule of penalties. If a group is liable for a penalty, all penalties will be applied to the score for the checkpoint hole where the breach occurred.
